  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I took my first real roadtrip this past week, from Raleigh, NC to Albany, NY with some stops in between. I just wanted to share what many of you already know: this car is a dream to drive. No backaches, sore arms/shoulders/neck, or fatigue. I felt like the car was an extension of my body the entire time I was in it. I was even getting 29 mpg, despite my Northerner driving habits coming back full force.

Coincidentally, I had sent an email asking about Android Auto before I left (I used Google Maps on my phone the entire way; the navigation system was so irritating). Someone from Hyundai corporate actually called me during the drive and said they are definitely going to have Android Auto for the 2015 and 2016 Genesis, not just the 2017 G80s. They just have been going through the software idiosyncrasies for each model and package, beginning with the Sonata. They had a lot of focus on that, and are still rolling it out to all the Sonata variants, with an email signup for Sonata owners. She said soon they will have an email signup for Genesis owners to receive updates about it. AA wil be available sometime this year, but no official timeline.

Thanks - time will tell... However, it would be rather embarrassing for them to launch the the 2017 G80 without a feature available in the Elantra and Sonata - but they might put a new head unit in the G80, so who knows?

Great info, thanks! Do you have the email address you used? I'd love to forward my experiences as well.

Deja vu anyone

Just FYI, if you have the Ultimate version of the 2015 or 2016 Genesis, you will NOT be getting the Android Auto or Apple Carplay updates that are available to Sonata owners and that will at some point be available to Base, Tech, and Signature Genesis owners.

Hyundai is claiming AA and Carplay are not compatible with the Premium Driver Information System (DIS) on the Ultimate Genesis. I am highly skeptical that there is an actual insurmountable technology barrier. Rather, I believe Hyundai has made the choice to not spend additional $ on R&D since there aren't many Ultimate Genesis on the road. Again, this is just my speculation, but while they may save some money today, they will surely piss off many Ultimate owners, which strikes me as an odd strategy considering they are attempting to launch a stand-alone premium brand. Positive word of mouth and brand loyalty go a long way in the infant stages of any brand.

If you are disappointed in this development, please make your voice heard and contact Hyundai corporate. I have been in dialog with Hyundai, and while they have been responsive and courteous, I haven't been able to accomplish much on my own. Perhaps Hyundai will change their stance if they receive enough customer feedback.

When will the current 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis sedans get CarPlay?
Currently Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are not available for the Hyundai Genesis. Hyundai is working on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis models equipped with the Audio Video Navigation (AVN) 4.5 system. Unfortunately we do not have an availability date at this time. Updates for existing customer vehicles require a specific version of the on-board navigation map and we are working to deliver a solution, which will provide the map update, AppleCarPlay and Android Auto support at no additional cost. Due to hardware differences, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will not be offered for 2015 or 2016 Genesis with the Premium Driver Information System (DIS) Navigation system (system included in the Ultimate Package).

Will 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Genesis owners of the Premium Driver Information System (DIS) Navigation system (Premium 2.0) be qualified to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
The Premium Driver Information System (DIS) Navigation System (included in the Ultimate Package) is not currently compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. We will have news on updates to the premium system for future model years, but do not anticipate updates for existing owners.

Just got a call from a Hyundai rep in response to my email to Miles from Connected Care. He was a nice gentlemen, however he told me he was calling about my email concerning "Auto Play". My first thought was that Android Auto and Car Play had mated and produced "Auto Play", but alas and alack, this was not the case. He said that there should be an update in the fall. When I quizzed him about whether is was for the Sig and Tech but not the Ultimate package, he was unsure. I kindly explained that the Ultimate on the 2015 and 2016 had a different processor package. I directed him to this forum and very nicely told him that he might be better acquainted with the problem if he did some research before calling people. Sigh. They are trying. We have to give them credit. But they have to realize that people on this forum dig a little deeper than the average Joe and we would like accurate answers, not generalities to placate us. Hopefully they will learn from this. I was very pleasant and tried to guide him so he could be a better representative.

I think we may get it because hyundai has an upgradable system just have to wait for apple to make android auto and apple car play more mainstream and make like an adapter to install on all car lcds
