Decent advice Southern Boy with the exception of the hands.
When possible, place both hands on the sill of an open window.
If you have to remove your hands to reach into the console or glovebox, ask permission.
Be respectful, even if you may disagree with the ticket. Be a jerk and the cop will encrypt a note on the citation to be sure to make the court appearance.
Keep the cop at ease and things will go much smoother. Hell, he may even let you off with a warning.
