  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I bought a 2015 Genesis from an auction, that I am going to fix and then use it for myself. Probably saved it from getting a being out car. Which would be really sad as the car is in a really good shape.

This is also my first salvage project that I am doing as I always dreamed about doing something like that back when I was living in Germany.

First thing that I am doing is changing the oil pressure switch, as the car is running smooth but the oil pressure light is on.
(But struggling with that as I can only lift the front side of the manifold even after taking out the two bolts on the back…)

After that I am starting with the rebuild.

Attached is a picture of the damage and the interpreter I gave it a clean.

I am really happy with this car, as I already had an eye on these Genesis’s when they first came out in 2015.

Best regards

Quick Update.
Was able to change the oil pressure switch last Sunday. When I was trying to start it I noticed that the battery died.

Yesterday I picked up a new battery and was able to start it successfully and with the oil pressure light of.

Today I ordered some body parts, radiator support, a used grill and a lightly damaged headlight that I am going to fix an install.

I will probably wait with the painting till next month.

It's good to see you're making progress already. Time flies and before you know it, you'll be finished.

Quick update:
New radiator support is now in.
Now waiting on new small plastic parts that get attached to the radiator support like headlight brackets and air scoop.

I hope that the adaptive cruise control will work with only a readjusting at the dealer.
I aligned them as best as possible to 0 degree. Iphone level app was showing 0 for both sides (measured on the top and on the front surface).
I also measured the distance to the front wall from the left and right side of the sensor and compared the delta to the one from the crash bar. They are really similar.

I noticed a brown sensor like thing that looks just like a plug for the harness without any function. The front bumper has also two in different colors (one grey and one black) near the parking sensor. Does anyone know if these have a function?

...not sure myself, but you may want to create a new topic about this in the second generation Genesis Sedan section as not many will know you're asking the question in this discussion...

I have forgotten to keep you all updated.
A good amount of work is now done.

What is left:
- putting the underside panels back on
- installing the fender liners
- front emblem
- insulation strip between front bumper and hood
- oil changes (transmission, engine and differential)

Besides the oil for the transmission oil, differential oil, the emblem and the insulation strip is everything on hand. These missing parts are already on order.

Glad to see things are moving along! It sounds like it won't be long before you're on the road and cruise with this Genesis...
