  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

There has been lots of discussion on this subject. Some of you have gotten various "fixes" and even new seats from Hyundai.

Has any of those "fixes" or a new seat actually fixed the problem.

My driver's seat looks pretty bad and the passenger seat is starting (lighter occupant :) ). The dealer is sending pictures to Hyundai.

Replacement on mine was exactly the same as the original. Hyundai knows about it. I'm going to try some highly diluted leather spray cleaner to the seat and use a hair dryer. It should tighten up somewhat.

IF the hair dryer does tighten the leather, it will stretch back out..... that's what leather does...... however, a short term fix may be better than no fix. Personally it doesn't bother me.

Agreed. I have not lost any sleep over this in the last year since my new seat leather began to look like the first one.

I posted the fix. Like everyone else, my seat started sagging almost immediately, within 1,000 miles. My local dealer said what you're saying, a replacement seat is the same and because of it, they would only replace it if I insisted on a new one. The "fix" was having a local shop come out and repair the seat by replacing the foam and refitting the bottom. The SM told me this was blessed by HMA and they picked up the tab no questions asked. It took about 3 hours and 6 months later it still looks good.

My dealer also sent mine out to an upholstery shop. It's been just over a year now and the seat still looks good. The heat function still seems fine, but I think the cooling is not quite as good as original...but it does work. The passenger side is getting a little stretched now. Now that my dealer has fixed the driver's side, they can't refuse to fix the passenger side.

Exactly. I might have lost a little of the cooling capacity, then again maybe not. It does still work and the seat has not "sagged" since.

Did your seat repair involve using a different foam seating material on your repair from an outside vendor? The seat foam (IMHO) is way to thick, and could use some more compact and denser less thick foam material (as other brands use).

Glad your seat was repaired and covered by Hyundai. Thanks for your input, Regards.

I can't say how it compares to the stock material. The SM said it was "better" than the original foam, that's about it. I will say that it felt more firm (dense?) than the stock seat and I wasn't convinced I would be happy with it at first. Within a couple of days, I was sold on whatever they installed as far as comfort. It seems to be holding up, same as Havasu.

After many attempts at a "fix" (stretching, refitting, new seat cover, etc.) they finally replaced the foam underneath and this has so far kept the cover from wrinkling. I too have lost some cooling capability in the summer - quite noticeable compared to the backrest.

Wait, you've got a 2013 V6 with "saggy" seats? There is a whole different interior in the V6 unless there are options for the V6 that include the "ultra premium" leather that comes with the V8 series......... dunno, just asking as I drove a base V6 and the seats were entirely different (actually had some support and side bolsters) from the V8 derivative.

Technology Package comes with Ultra Premium leather.

I Have 27K on my Genesis and my seats look like new.
Of course I live in Florida so I virtually never use the heating feature, which I feel may contribute to the leather stretching problem.
About once a month I treat all the leather to a light coat of “LEXOL” Leather Conditioner / Preservative, which was recommended on this site several times by various posters.

Yes, you are wrong.

Where did I ask the question??

"There is a whole different interior in the V6 unless there are options for the V6 that include the "ultra premium" leather that comes with the V8 series......... "

Yes, you were wrong.

So what it comes down to is living with the looks of the stretched leather, or living with less cooling and a firmer seat bottom.

At this point, I think the looks is the lessor of the two evils

My experience is neither the V6 nor the V8 have decent side bolsters nor decent leather seats. The V8 Rspec seat leather 'sags' with minimum mileage and/or age. Seats in the 2013 V6 do not have anymore or less bolstering than the V8 Rspec. You would expect the Rspec to have some performance aspects to them. At least the 2015 has a much improved seat design, and the 2015 5.0L has power side bolsters. Regards.
