  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

See attached pic of some flaking on my 9-month old 17" Genesis 3.8 wheels. What should I do here to prevent further deterioration? I assume dealer wouldn't bother rectifying under warranty.

The 17" wheels are painted. Some people make the mistake of using a commercial wheel cleaner product, and especially alloy/aluminum wheel cleaner, on painted wheels. Although the paint on the wheels is made to look like aluminum, using any kind of harsh wheel cleaner can damage the paint over time and the painted wheels should be washed with a mild detergent just like the paint on your sheet metal of the car, and then waxed with a good synthetic polymer product.

Members have reported that there are shops who will repaint your wheels at a reasonable price. If you only have one bad wheel, you can probably get one from an online parts junkyard for about $100.

I would put a cap on those valve stems to help keep the air from slowly leaking from your tire, and to protect the valve from corrosion.
