  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
I just purchased a 2013 Genesis 3.8 and I really like the car, though its more for my wife than I.I do enjoy driving it but makes me sad to jump back into the Sonata

I bought a 2007 Sonata Limited that I still drive and I mention that because I have had a great ownership expirience with it so far.Thats what brought me back to look at Genesis. My Sonata has many of the same features as the new Genesis, but most are more refined in the Genesis.

My Sonata is the 3.3 v-6 and I got about 140k on it.It still drives great!I bought it new and the here is the list of things I have done.
oil changes every 7500
new tires 3 sets
new brakes front and rear at 105k
all wheel alignment at 120k
new battery at 130k
drivers side and passenger side visor(known Issue)

I have a little bubbleing going on under the tape on the drivers side door post and an Regional rep is going to look at it and see if it can be fixed under warranty.7 year antiperferation.

I mention this because I sincerely hope that The Genesis ownership will be similiar in nature. The Sonata is not a head turner but it sure has been reliable.

I have a couple of complaints about the Genesis now...
The Horn sucks! Need to find a replacement.Suggestions?
I dont like the throttle response off the line.
(my front wheel drive sonata will light up the tires)
I do like the roll on accelleration...that is quite impressive!

Welcome :)

I the genesis is also my 2nd Hyundai, have a 2009 Santa Fe AWD 3.3 for the Mrs.

1. The Horn sucks! Need to find a replacement.Suggestions?

No idea

2. I dont like the throttle response off the line.

This is a big heavy car, I had the same feeling as you on my 4.6. As you mentioned, once it gets rolling... ;)

Also my dad has a 2006 Sonata 3.3. Thing has been a tank. has 125000 miles now. The genesis has more that can wrong on it, but so far Hyundai has been good to me.

Hope you enjoy it :)

I replaced the horn on my '09 4.6; and find the horn on my '13 3.8 to be quite acceptable - but that's just my opinion.
Replacing the horns (there are two) is comparatively easy. The OEM horns are quite small in overall dimensions, but can be replaced with aftermarket horns of the same basic design. You louder/larger horns available for little $$ from almost any auto supply store.

You could also mount airhorns, but this is a bit more involved. You will still use the factory wiring to initiate the horns.

The difficult part of the replacement is accessing the horns. The only practical method I know requires removing the front bumper cover/grill assembly. This is not difficult for someone who works on their own cars and is not intimidated by the technology. Bear in mind that this assembly is designed for easy assembly - like snapping in place. It is like undoing a puzzle in a sense. There are hidden 10MM fasteners in the fender well, but otherwise most fasteners are easily discerned and disconnected.
