  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2019 fob won't make contact when button is pressed. Took off fob cover. Physically pressed inside panel to make contact. Tried inserting thin cardboard to make the contact more likely. To no avail. Any other suggestions. Is it possible to purchase only a new case. Searched but did not find any. Thanks in advance for anyone's help

That is a frustrating problem, and you've already done some good troubleshooting. It sounds like the issue is with the physical button on the fob's circuit board, which is a common point of failure. The good news is that you can buy a new fob case for your G70. They're a little harder to find than for more common cars, but they're out there. You can try searching on Amazon, eBay, or other online retailers that sell aftermarket parts. You'll want to be sure you're looking for a case thats specifically for the Genesis G70.

However, based on what you've described, a new case may not solve your problem. The case is just the plastic shell, and it sounds like the issue is with the actual button on the internal circuit board. The small metal or rubber piece under the button may have worn out or broken off, which is why it's not making contact with the board. If you open the fob and look at the circuit board, you can probably see the small, round button. If it's not making a solid contact, you can try to clean it with a little rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Sometimes dirt or grime can build up and prevent the button from working.

If that doesn't work, you have a couple of options:

You can try to repair the circuit board yourself. This is an advanced option and would require a soldering iron and some small electronic components. You can often find kits online that have replacement buttons and other parts for your fob.

Your best option, however, is to take it to a locksmith or a dealership. They have the proper tools and expertise to diagnose the issue with the circuit board and can get you a new fob and program it to your car.

Yes, you can buy a new empty key fob case online.

Transfer your circuit board and key blade into the new shell; it's a direct swap and should fix the contact issue.
