  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all. Newb here with a couple questions. Just picked up a 2015 3.8 Ultimate last night. Were fog lights an option for 2015? I don't have them. I looked up the brochure from 2015 and it looks as though they were standard. Also, I've read that the 17 speaker Lexicon system is supposed to be pretty good. To say I'm disappointed in the sound quality would be an understatement. Is it possible there may be something wrong with the system?

Pretty sure fog lights only came on the 5.0L version. The owners manual has to cover all models. Sub bass is definitely sub-par with the neutered 10" woofer on the rear deck. A shame, since the rest of the car is top quality.

Thanks arcman. It's not just the bass, it's overall. Had a 2005 Lincoln Aviator with the standard 4 speaker plus factory small sub that sounded way better than this.

You must be an audiophile because I love the 14 speaker system in my Five-O.

Lol, maybe but this stereo really does not sound good. I was looking for an eq somewhere in the settings to sweeten the sound but all I can find is bass, mid and treble

You have to dig around in the settings - might want to try toggling the Surround Sound on & off. Sometimes makes a difference, depending what your source is...

I really have no complaints w/ my 17 spkr. Lexicon - way better than the Bose in my old Infiniti.

I'm with you on the bose system in the Infiniti's. At least the older models. They were pretty bad.

you said you have the 3.8L do you have the tech package? if not you have the basic sound system, not the lexicon.

Doesn't the Ultimate have the tech package?

Ultimate has 17 spkr Lexicon... If you have the jog wheel round controller on the console (between shifter & armrest) you have an Ultimate, if not you have Base or Tech pkg. Ultimate pkg. has everything that Tech has plus other items that I'm too lazy to list - like power trunk, upgraded leather, 9.2" Nav display w/ 17 spkr Lexicon, powered rear sunshade & etc.

If memory serves, Ultimate pkg. was the only way to get fog lights on the 3.8 in 2015...

You may need to adjust you speaker settings as noted above the surround on and off have a very different feel to them. Other then lacking a bit bit of bass the lexicon produces very good sound quality. I've had high quality aftermarket systems before and using the same source (ipod with 320 quality mp3s) its just as good if not better, im getting to old for all that bass anyway lol.

I've yet to plug in my ipod so maybe it's just the radio source. I don't think the lexicon sounds horrible, was just expecting more clarity from a 17 speaker system. My buddy has a 5 series BMW with the Harmon Kardon system which sounds much better. The H/K system also comes with an eq which would've been very nice to have in the Genesis. Overall, I'm very happy with the car. Now it's time to figure out how to swap the trunk 'H' for the wings 🤔

Your car is an ultimate so has the 17 speaker lexicon. Try resetting the radio by pushing a staple pin in the reset hole. There is a good sound balancing user interface. Look in the manual for it. Fog lights came standard with all wheel drive but can be added, not cheap.

Trunk emblem swap is easy and well documented in this forum

My 2015 Ultimate 3.8L AWD does not have fog lights.

The HD radio was unchecked in the options menu. Turned it on and what a difference!!! Plugged in the ipod and the sound is extremely better. This system is just lacking bass. Overall, very satisfied.

There's a sticky/tutorial for the badge - take you about 30-45 mins to do it.

Turn the surround on - drop the midrange a hair, boost the treb and bass a bit and turn it up....
"Old people" settings (preferred by me) lol
