  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My left fog light died out and I just bought some led bulbs to replace them. Is there a guide I can use to take out the fogs and replace them? Or has anybody done this before that can help me. I remember seeing a video of someone showing HIDs in the fogs and I didn't like them because they were so bright, which is why I just went with LEDs instead.

I believe there are some older threads with the information you are looking for.

My fog lights die about every three months or so.. I pull into the dealer and they replace them at no charge.

I've had two left fog lamps burnout in less than a year. It sounds like a problem.

Just changed the fog lights out to LED bulbs. Although on the first light we used too much force, and now there is a hole on the background of the fog light. Never realized how cheap the fog light housing is. It looks like it's made of cheap foil.

The OP asked about a procedure to replace the fog lights, not whether or not he should switch them to LEDs...geeeszh.

I too just received my Luminics H8 5150k bulbs, and it does not look like an easy procedure (NOTHING on this car seems to be easy to do except to get in and drive)....

This is how the procedure starts in the manual:

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. Remove the front bumper cover.
3. Remove the front fog lamp assembly (A) after loosening screws (4EA).

Installation
1. Install the front fog lamp bulb.
2. Connect the front fog lamp connector.
3. Install the front bumper cover.

Certainly sounds 'easy'...but I guess I'll have a go at it....

'skull, I assume that since you haven't replied to the thread you may have already discovered that replacing fog light bulbs isn't too difficult. For those who might be reading and wondering, I just did the driver's side.

My suggestion: Put the car up on a ramp...I happen to have a pair of ramps that allow cars with low front air dams access to the ramp (not as steeply angled). The procedure can be difficult without the access...anyways, once up on the ramp, the front area of the bumper protrudes enough over 'free space' to allow easy access. Under each side is a cover panel, held on by several 'pop in, screw out' fasteners. I removed the three to the front of the car, and on up inside on the sheet metal, engine side. Try a cross tip, and unscrew them...once it comes out about, oh, not quite a quarter inch, then just pull the 'screw head and flange looking thing' out...the spreaders will squeeze in to come out of the hole. If you turn the crosstip and the plastic screw head AND it's flange turn, just pull out with a bit of pressure while turning the plastic screw head to 'secure the flange (and spreaders on the other side). The plastic screw will then back out to allow you to remove it.

Have a flashlight handy cause it's dark up in there. Take a look at the back of the fog lamp assembly. You will have to REMOVE the harness connector first to allow removal of the bulb. if you feel up in there on the connector, there are two tabs, one on each side of the connector. Gently squeeze them and the connector will come free. After that, grasp the connector on the bulb side and rotate the bulb (it will only go one way, counterclockwise to the back of the fog lamp assy). Remove the bulb and replace it with your new bulb. Be careful to NOT TOUCH the bulb with anything...not your fingers, dirt or anything that can cause the bulb to fail after it gets hot. Insert the bulb, rotate it, replace the connector, and the panel. DO the same for the other side. Once you do one, the ohter side will be easy. I esitmate the total time for the job to be .5 hr, and on a difficulty scale of 1 -5, it's about a 2, in reality.

But looking at that procedure from the manual was wonky. I can see if you might want to REMOVE the entire assembly, but the bulbs are easy.

Hope this helps. Another poster here in a thread also posted a couple of close up pics of the plastic retainers....just be careful and you'll be fine.

;)
