  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So after driving around last night one little thing kinda peevs me. I want to be able to use my fogs without having my headlights on, but can't seem to figure it out. Am i missing something or am i dumb? anyone else able to? if not does anyone know of a way to get the fogs on without having to have your main headlights on?

It's illegal to drive like that at night, so the manufacturers don't allow you to even have the option.

I don't want to drive around at night just just fogs, on but i want the option to have them on only, and my cobalt had that option just pressed a button and fogs on, the auto lights then came on when dusk

I can't say for certain on the coupe. But you can't do it in the sedan. I hear what you are saying though. ILO daytime running lights, not a bad idea.

I think it would look good, i might take a look at the relay see how its wired, might be able to by-pass it.

Try this...

The forum apparently will not let me add the link you need to find this info, but there is a very detailed post SOMEWHERE about this out there on the web.

Just trying to help.

Here's the guy who can help you... Send him a PM.

Like Doctor, I also would love to be able to drive with my FogLights on, (with the parking and tail lamps on also), but without the Headlights.

My MKZ that I got rid of, was like that. Parking and Tail lamps on would also allow the Fog lamps on.

I had a car ten years ago, what I rewired the fog lamps, so I could switch them on or off at my pleasure. All I did was to cut the wires that go to the fog lights and connect them direct through a relay and a switch. Worked great on that car. When I sold the car, I removed the relay and switch, and reconnected the wires back to stock. Don't see why it can't be done on the Genesis, but (1) it does not mean as much to me now as in the past, and
(2) I'm getting too old to be testing wires, looking for power places, that are only hot when ignition on, cutting, splicing, etc.

BTW Doctor, Perhaps you can get it done at "Corner Gas" :grouphug:

I had this same situation on my Subaru WRX. The WRX forum had a "mod" submitted by a Subaru mechanic. It was a simple jumper placed between the fog lamp relay and an ignition power connector. I'm hoping that a similar "mod" exists for the Genny!

Well by the sounds of things I'm not the only one who is looking for a simple mod or bypass or what not, haven't looked at bypassing the lights yet, between work and finding people who mandrel bend for my intake project and house/yard work I'm pretty busy. If anyone has an electrical diagram of the light relays they want to pm me that would be great as it would provide a good start. Unless one of the vendors wants to tackle this one before I do :P

TW Doctor, Perhaps you can get it done at "Corner Gas"

I didn't know you Americans would watch such a show :P

To keep this as a Genesis post, the show is about a Gas Station (50 miles from nowhere) and the strange people who live in the town of Dog River.
I loved that show.

It used to air on WGN, the Chicago "Super Station". It was the best comedy on TV and I never would miss it. I know that they stopped production of the show, and even though there was one more season left, WGN took it off the air. (On top of that, it was clean)

I still go into www.cornergas.com every once in a while to read about the show. I miss that show.

The town is really called Rouleau, and is about 30 min away from were I live
