  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ever since switching from my '12 base to a '12 tech I've been dealing with a minor annoyance. I tend to lock my doors with the key fob, yet unlock them using the button on the door handle.

My annoyance stems from the fact that locking the doors with the fob causes the side mirrors to retract, yet unlocking with the handle button does not cause them to extend. I can't tell you how many times I've driven out of a parking lot recently with the mirrors folded in only to realize it when I put my turn signal on at the stop light. I'm sure I look like a tool in the process.

I know, first world problems, but it is annoying. I wish the logic was set to automatically extend the mirrors whenever the car is in a gear other that 'park'. Anyone know of a configuration setting somewhere, perhaps in the engineering menu, that could rectify my issue? Do I need a flash from the dealer?

Never mind, section 4-34 of the manual reads as follows:

"A driver position memory system is provided to store and recall the driver seat, outside rearview mirror and steering wheel positions with a simple button operation. By saving the desired positions into the system memory, different drivers can reposition the driver seat, outside rearview mirror and steering wheel based upon their driving preference. If the battery is disconnected, the position memory will be lost and the driving positions should be restored in the system."

I guess I inadvertently programmed my seat position with the mirrors retracted. Mod, please close.

How many times are you pushing the remote button to lock the doors?

Pushing the remote button once locks all the doors and sets the security. Pushing it twice also folds the mirrors in.

Solution - only push your remote lock button once.

Press the lock button on the fob only one time. You're pressing it twice.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, was pressing twice. I guess I thought that was needed to lock front and back doors.

if you push it twice to unlock they will also fold out.

+1 ^^^ this is what I do.

Read what the OP is doing: Using the keyfob to lock, and the door handle button to unlock. Pressing the door handle button twice will not fold out the mirrors.
i apologize for my ignorance, stupidity and lack of seeing detail in the main subject.

I never knew pressing the lock button twice folded the mirrors. Will it work for my 2011 4.6? I'll have to try that.

No. It was 2012 forward.
