  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My remote options expired in July and I called Genesis and they gave me four moths free. In November that expired. I rarely use the items and see now that remote start, lock/unlock, lights and horn operate as before. Find my car and find gas stations and other map location options show a white phone screen, nothing indicated and no response to clicks anywhere. Is this your expired service experience? I am wondering since elsewhere on this site two people say that Genesis map location on phone was not working.

Update:
With installation of new Genesis connect iPhone app, remote start, lock and unlock work as they did before. Map now shows on screen and Find My Car works. Also the find dealer and other map services are as normal. All at no charge for me. I have not examined the valet modes, speed and location restriction notifications, as I have never used them and care not if they operate. Same for send location to car and routing as my phone connection is better and with several options such as Waze, etc.
To my eye the Genesis map update from October/November gives a more clear view with better definition for roads and buildings (in 3D mode). Happy, I am.

Interesting.

We have some 17months left and I have zero intention of renewing. Our infotainment system does not have GPS guidance, so no location services. There isn't a whole lot of security related stuff, so it's all down to convenience features, which we rarely find the need for, if ever.

When it expires, I might considering going to an aftermarket system like what Compustar offers with their LTE. I've had their two-way paging remote security system and really like the extended range, compared to the typical factory keyfob remote. Their subscription services is has 4-tiers and offer a lot more features, especially for security. Plans & Subscriptions | Starting at $3.99/month | DroneMobile.

I remote lock/unlock yesterday and remote started also. I checked car location when car was away from home to be sure I avoided default location interference. This has all been surprising to me. I thought more about it on this site when someone with another type of Genesis vehicle said the map function was not working and another person or two chimed and so I updated app and then here we are.

edit: this could be cancelled at any time and I would be no further from my grave. Genesis can do what they will with my remote.

Update: Yesterday there was an update for the app in apple store and I downloaded it. Now connection to app on phone says "package not supported" or something such. Went to phone of partner which had non-updated app and same response there. New software thus includes information about those who are no longer paying customers on the Genesis side for first time. I used it to remote start Thursday night so this is related to the release of new app software. Six months of free service which showed me how little I use it, and as said above, I am no closer to my grave because of this.

I had a similar issue where I was paying monthly before updating the app and after updating, it told me the package was not supported.

I went onto the MyGenesis owners website to check it out. When I was checking the subscription statuses, it had the option to enroll in all 3 services available for free. Before it was renewing on the 23rd or 28th of the month, but after enrolling through the website, it says my subscriptions are good until January 20, 2026.

It may be worth checking out. I hadn't had any issues with the app after thr update and the initial issue mentioned above.
