  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How much difference do they make? My car is pearl white and it seems like it's impossible to keep this car clean. The rear-quarter panel is always dirty (which I'm thinking the mudflaps might help with).

It doesn't help that it seems like the trees are in pollen overdrive right now, and it consistently looks like my car is covered in a very thin layer of dried guacamole (and yes, I know the mudflaps won't help with this).

I have the same color... I'd like to get some flaps as well but don't like the black look and don't want to spend the money to get them painted.

My front quarter behind the front wheels and part of the doors always seem to have splatter.... Not much you can do and I'm not sure if the flaps would help.

I got a California Car Duster - every time I pull into my garage I give my car (black - looks awful with green pollen) a quick once-over (takes about a minute) and it does a great job of cleaning off dust and pollen. If you leave it on and the car gets wet it becomes a mess and has to be washed; with the duster the car doesn't get so gunky when it rains.

I live in Oregon rain country and have the mudflaps. I don't think they make a huge difference. A real test would be to run one side of the car without the mudflaps, which I have not done. I do think they are very well engineered for a clean installation. They are also easily removed.

Not to single you out because I know there are probably others that feel the same as you, but I always laugh when people plunk down $40k on a vehicle and balk at $200 for a useful accessory (mudflaps + paint).

To the OP: I have them and I love them. Look at my gallery and there are a couple pics of my car w/ them on. I bought them on ebay and had them painted. I think I spent around $210-220 all together w/ tax. They keep the bottom sides of my car/rear bumper area about 80% cleaner than without. If you go through a series of puddles you will still get a bit of splashing on the sides. Since they sand the roads here in winter they really seem to help keep the paint from getting sandblasted.

I hope this helps. :)

Yeah, if I remember correctly we had this discussion a while ago....

My synopsis was about value. Not merely the cost of a product.

I have them. Got them from my dealer Parts Department. The Service Department must have been slow that day, because when I asked if they could install them, they took me right away. (I told you in past posts that Orlando Hyundai Service Department treats me like a king). Sure, I may have paid more to have them installed, but they did it correct, and I think I paid a fair price.

Although the Mud Flaps seem to look small, they do the job. I don't notice any more dirt or scum behind them than the rest of the car after driving in the rain.

I'm glad I got them.

I don't see an incredible amount thrown up from the wheels and the small size of the mud guards makes me suspicious of their efficacy. I carefully watched the side of the car this winter and didn't see any real problem areas. In fact, the front of the car always looked the worst after driving through snow and slush...probably throwoff from cars in front. I agree, the real test would be to run them on half the car.

Beside breaking up the lines of the car a little, my biggest concern with the mud guards is the lower ground clearance. The Genesis is already pretty low. I can imagine the guards catching on the ground and tearing off...maybe ripping out the attachment holes at the same time.

Because of this, my guards still sit in the box.

FWIW, I've had mine on for well over a year now and have driven it through 10+" of snow (not too fun in the Genesis, even w/ snow tires because the front end acts like a plow) and my mud guards remained in tact. I initially had this fear as well, but after all this time I can't find any evidence that they've scraped the ground or hit a piece of ice/snow large enough to cause damage. They still look brand new, paint and all.

I too have a white pearl 4.6 Gen.& have always been skeptical about having white
mud guards because I think they would look lousy once they get hit with road debris.
The white paint will be flaking off in no time.IMHO.My daughter just bought a 2010
Nisson Altima, yery nice car BTW.However she has the white flaps that were on the car,
[the car is white] and the flaps are beat up.[paint wise] How about the fact.flaps being
black & apply several coats of semi or full gloss paint to them.At this point I think that's
what I will do.If I no like,I can always paint them, but doubt that I would do that Just a
thought.

look at Chris Green white pearl with white mud guards on them & see for yourself hes a member on here with pics

For those that painted their flaps, did you leave the tire facing side of the flap unpainted? If it was painted, how long before the paint was worn due to water/dirt thrown up from the tire?

I can only answer your first question:

The body shop that painted mine left the inside unpainted. It looks better this way IMO as it blends in with the black wheel well liners. My guess would be that the paint wouldn't last very long on the inside, especially if you live in an area with any significant amount of rain/ice/snow.

How much did you guys with mudflaps pay?

Where is the cheapest place to get them?

Also how much was labor to install them?

Thanks for the feedback

I think I paid about $60 total for the fronts and rears

Where is the cheapest place to get them?
Not sure. I bought mine at dealership

Also how much was labor to install them?
I installed myself. Takes about 15 minutes from start to finish

Thanks,

Damm if they were that cheap $60 for both sets I'll try the dealership and see what they quote me.

The hyundai accesory part store online had them for more than that can't remember how much though?

I just asked for the best price he could give me on the flaps. Didn't need to press him.

Bought mine on ebay from hyundaipartsusa for 82.00 , instaled them myself in about 30 min. They work great and don't look like big bulky mud guards. ;)
