  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my 2015 genesis in for first oil change. Found out two facts. One/ synthetic oil is what comes from the factory and it takes 7 guarts. Two genesis and equis owners get free car wash and interior cleaning at any time not just when bringing in for service. Is this just my dealership or across the board. Loving the car.

I rather pay for my car being washed by hand, than by the dealer's. Just sayin'..... ;)

Who told you that? They're mistaken - the 2015 does not come with synthetic oil from the factory.

I just had my first oil change and was warned that if I chose to synthetic (I did), that I'd have to stick with synthetic oil for all future oil changes, making them much more expensive. So, if it came from the factory with synthetic on board, I would think you wouldn't have a choice - you'd have to continue to use it...

They gave me special "VIP" car wash card as well, I can wash the car any time for no cost , but I suggest you and others, better do it yourself or if you can't or don't want to, find reliable and good
detailer in your area and let him do it. I do it myself and don't trust the dealership free wash or any other car wash. They can and will ruin your paint , and sooner or later you will have swirl marks all over.
Very good example, not saying that all do like this, but I better do myself , enjoying to washing and cleaning my Genny :)

I ALWAYS decline the car wash at any service, regardless of the make or dealer. Go back and see where they wash the cars and decide - regardless of car maker, it is generally not a good idea for those who value their paint and non-Armor-All'ed steering wheels.

I'm not that anal. The dealer washed my 2009 Genesis at every visit over 5 years and the paint and interior was fine when I traded the car. They are more than welcome to wash my 2015 for free. The car gets far more potential damage by simply being driven on a public road than by an occasional wash.

I used to be that anal, but I'm not anymore and it sure makes life easier. :)

There is where we will agree to disagree.

To each their own when it comes down to washing their cars. Personally, I had the dealership add "do not wash" to my file. They could never meet my expectations as an ex car detailer. When I see them use the same brush on the paint and wheels, that makes me cringe every time.

Exactly!

That's why I asked that "NO WASH" card be placed on my car.

This is exactly what I was trying to say. The same wash mitts for dirty wheels and same for paint and glass. It might be not that extreme as in video, but not using proper way to wash , the paint would get swirl marks all over , for those who use the dealer free wash and other automatic wash places, if you take a good LED flash light and look at your paint, I am pretty sure you will see round circular swirl marks at the paint. And another thing is I really enjoy yo take care of my ride myself :)

Like these at the picture , caused just with not washing car carefully. Just a small portion of my collection for cleaning and washing, and other things to do for my car :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716248.201409.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716314.811873.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716347.163645.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716374.134526.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716399.387671.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1416716446.144152.webp

Many of us have no realistic choice but automatic washes in the winter! I'd rather get the salt off than worry about minor swirl marks.

Aww,that's right , forgot about that one, I live in FL, and it's hard to remember all the time that up north is different weather. It's not that hard to get rid of the marks , they not permanent , just some buffing polishing and they are gone.

The swirl marks are much more visible on darker color cars than lighter ones.
