If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I was wondering if anyone has successfully replaced the ball joint on the front knuckles? I had the suspension apart a couple weeks back when I replaced the struts and I planned to replaced the ball joints while I was there but the "21 pc Deluxe ball joint press" from Autozone didn't have an adapter that would allow be get the old ball joint out. I read the service manual and it didn't mention a hyundai specific press kit or anything of that nature.

Any help would be appreciated.

not sure about the Genesis but on many cars now the control arm and ball joint come as one part to replace.

like homeofstone said I'm 98% sure you have to buy new control arms to replace balljoints

I need to replace the lower balljoint. The one mounted in the knuckle. It is serviced separately from the knuckle.

You are correct, the ball joints in the upper control arms are not serviced separately. The upper control arms must be replaced. I replaced all the upper control arms a few weeks back.

Any solution found? I currently have everything taken apart but can't get the ball joint out of the knuckle. I tried the Autozone press kit as well as an air hammer. Hasn't budged. Any help would be appreciated!

I also need to replace my lower front ball joints, did anyone figure out how to do it? I bought these to replace them but I can't figure out how to get it off the hub

if you look at the picture of the ball joint there's a small grove at the bottom of it, make sure you remove that snap ring before trying to press it out.

Yes, there is a snap ring. Even with that removed, I had no luck getting it out.

I’ve seen a different ball joint press design by Matco, but it’s $750. So for now I’m just living with the worn out lower ball joints.

Old thread, but did anyone have luck getting that ball joint out? Looking at AllData and I can't find anything about this ball joint. Will just have to get creative with removing it I suppose.

There is a tool. Part# 09568-2J100

I imagine any similar gear puller will work.

It looks like that tool is for the forward control arm/tension arm that has the ball joint already pressed in. That remover won't do anything for the bigger ball joint that's pressed into the knuckle and connects to the other control arm.

1) remove wheel hub bearing from knuckles.
2) remove knuckles from car
3) remove C spring from the ball joint bottom
4) use fire heat gun to heat knuckle
5) use big hammer to remove ball joint from knuckle
6) use benz "C type ball joint installer" to install ball joint.
