  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2022 GV70 3.5 SP will soon be in need of new front brake pads. I'd appreciate advice on what's the best value based on your experience. For example, do you recommend OEM or aftermarket pads? Thanks

I also have been looking at replacing the OEM pads with aftermarket replacement pads for my 2023 GV70 2.5L Advanced. The front brakes are the 4 piston monoblocks. I probably will do all 4 brakes. Anyone come up with a better alternative to the OEM's??
I'm getting a lot of vibration on braking for a long time (since around 1500 miles). From what I have read here, the vibration comes from the pads vibrating and not the rotors warping. The dealer I use serviced the brakes under warranty but the vibration came back within a short time. Right now I'm at 32K miles.

Also, how good are the OEM rotors?? Should I consider replacing them as well??

Thanks in advance!!

As it was, I booked an appointment for pad replacements with the dealer in Ocala, Florida. The dealer replaced the pads with NAPA pads, replaced the rotors with NAPA rotors, and changed the brake fluid. This came as a surprise as I was informed initially, my brakes only needed new pads AND the pads would be OEM. I questioned the Service Manager who informed me that the warranty was the same; that being one year.

I just came back from the dealer with a quote to do brakes brake pads and resurface rotors with aftermarket parts. They quoted me for the front $1009. (!!!!) and the rear $685. (!!!!).
I declined and will either have it done at a local shop ($285 per axle) or do them with my brother in law. crazy...

I'd have declined too. It has been a few years since I paid $200 at my local shop, so today, $285 seems reasonable.

Hi,

GV70 Sport 2.5, 2021

I'm in the UK, and also have the 4 pot mono-blocks up front (black branded as Genesis but clearly Brembo). No aftermarket pads are available here, I've never known anything like it. The only domestic source for front pads is the Genesis dealer. Just for the front pads (no fitting) they want GBP688 (about USD890). To confuse matters it turns out that the UK uses different part numbers. Anyhow, I sourced some pads from South Korea which are now in possession, USD186 delivered! I'm planning on fitting these on Saturday. If it works out, I'll share all the equivalent part numbers.

In the meantime would anyone be able to share with me the fitting instructions for the front pads plus callipers (i.e. for the torque settings) from the workshop manual. If the one for the rears is also available, or any advice re the electronic parking brake, that would be great as I also have pads ready for those.

For dealer to supply and fit front and rear pads, USD1600 - USD1980 (I lost interest and can't remember if the original figure included sales tax or not).

Many thanks in advance
