  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

recently i've noticed when i pull into the garage and get close to the garage wall with boxes and bins etc the sensors do not activate. I have to get real close, put the car in D to get the sensors to go off. It never did that before. Is something not working properly?

I believe the sensors only suppose to activate when the car is in either D or R.
Is that what you are asking?

There is a switch on the console that turns the front sensors off/on - is it on? The LED is hard to see in daylight. I think the backup sensors are on all the time.

thanks Mike.. I'll double check..

Actually i believe the button next to the knob in the center turns off the front and back sensors, at least mine turn all off when i click it and drive into my tight garage.

is the button on the panel where the gas and cruise control are located?

same thing happened yesterday while pulling into garage and also noticed it a few weeks ago while pulling into parking spot it would not sense the curb. Something must be turned off..

No, it's in the center console for me at least with the ultimate version. It has a "P" with sensor symbols.

On my Equus, and I think other Hyundais, the parking sensor function automatically turns off once underway at about 12 mph. This means that you have to positively activate it each time you need it. I have not found a method to change this default position so as to leave it on all the time.

thanks Patrick.. it was turned off

Mine is on all the time. It may go off at high speed, but certainly is always active at lower parking speeds unless I turn it off. That is true for both the 2015 and 2018. As Patrick pointed out, it is the button on the right rear of the consul.

Yea, mine is always on, unless I turn it off it does get annoying in drive thrus sometimes. On a completely unrelated note, the heated steering wheel will turn back on automatically after the car has been shut off I like this. ALOT!

I’m not smart enough to tell what year your car is but I can report that on the 2017 G90 the parking sensor will stay on. Even if you turn it off it will go back on (temporarily) when you shift into reverse.

As for the heated steering wheel, it does NOT seem to go back on after the ignition is turned off.

I have a 2015, if I remember right if you the turn the parking sensors off its off, but I will test in reverse. The heated steering wheel will turn on after ignition is off upon next start. Unless you turn the button off it will always kick on which is nice when its cold cause you let it warm up a bit and its ready for ya.

I don't usually leave the heated steering wheel on all the time but will switch it back on when I park it for the night. It goes on then when I remote start. The heated wheel is one of the nicest options a car can have on a cold day.

They need to make a cooled steering wheel now! For all of use in the HEAT!

Sometimes I will stop and get an eggamuffin for breakfast and bring it home to eat. I use the passenger heated seat to keep the bag warm till I get where I'm going. Is that so wrong? :-)

I do that for taco wagon food.

thanks for that button reminder...i was wondering why the front sensor was working sometimes and not other times such as after a drive and found the sensor button on the console was turned off. i was mistaking it for parking brake...lol.

One thing I noticed is that, after the bumper conversion to g80 sport the front sensors are much higher thus harder it seems to detect the tall curbs while parking. I notice myself parking like a foot away from a parking crub.
