  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So as per manual I went in to my trusted mechanic to get both my front and rear diff fluid change on my 3.8 (2015 AWD). To my surprise and theirs the front diff fill plug is extremely hard to get at. I wanted to get anyones feedback on this as to how you did the front change and how labour intensive it may be. Apparently they may have to remove the steering rack just to get to that fill plug (The drain plug not an issue). I've not contacted Hyundai dealership yet to get a quote on the change. Has this been your experience? Do you actually need to remove racks just to replace the fluid? Thanks for any feedback.

It's a known pain. A good mechanic can usually get to it with swivel sockets and extensions without dropping the rack. That should be their first approach. Only if that fails should they consider the more intensive job of removing the steering rack.
