If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I always like to keep two sets of floor mats for our vehicles. I can't help but notice that most of the hyundai brand mats shown on sites like eBay only show one hole on the drivers side mat. My 2013 Genesis sedan has 2 holes in the mat and two "pegs" in the floor for attachment. What's the deal here? Did Hyundai recently switch over to a 2 hole or peg attachment system for their mats? Anyone have any details on this?

2013 rspec here with 2 pegs and 2 holes

one thought is that it may be generic pics?

There was a change made for MY 2011 I believe. My 2009 has only 1 hole.

These specific pics are not generic although a lot of them are on eBay. I've even noticed that some eBay sellers who sell a lot of mats will mention to readers to check which mats they have on their genesis drivers side, 1 hole or 2?

I figured it was one more piece of Genesis trivia that someone on here would know the answer to! I've been really impressed with many of the members depth of knowledge.

A switch to two holes/pegs was made by several auto manufacturers after Toyota/Lexus had all of those sudden acceleration problems caused by floor mats sliding under gas pedal.

This thread is Par" for the course.............TigeR

Surely if the Mat slides under the Pedal it Would Stop the Pedal from being pushed down!
I understood the Issue to be the Mats slid up onto the floor mounted gas pedal and therefore the weight of the mat + the drivers foot caused unwanted acceleration..

OK, I state that wrong, but as you said it had something to do with unintended acceleration.

my 09 camry has a non floor mounted gas pedal.

when the recall came out, all they did was shave down the bottom of the pedal and put the driver's side mat in the trunk and tell you not to reinstall it.

The mat never moved from its single hook before the recall.

Of course i put it back in place, and it hasn't moved since.

the floormats COULD have caused a problem on the Camry, but it would take it being WAAAY out of place for that to happen

I saw a 2006 Lexus ES that had 2 hooks for the floor mat, but both of them broke off.

My 2011 Genesis sedan has two pegs for the front mats. I have factory installed floor mats with one hole. I would have never known it if I didn’t remove the mats while detailing the car. I don’t think there is any big deal if the mats have one or two holes, either set will fit and not be noticeable. I think Hyundai went to two holed mats for some of the reasons Mark 888 mentioned.

2 hole.

I also would NOT recommend the weathertec mats for the front floor. Mine fit, but they are so slippery that my foot kept sliding around.

I got these from ebay:

Nice think mats.
