If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello!

Weirdly upon getting in my car tonight, my front drivers side speakers were not working (except the door woofer). No sound at all was coming from the front driver door tweeter or the front driver side dash tweeter. All other speakers/electronics/etc in the car were working 100% fine.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or know a fix?

Thanks,
Kolme

Are you still under warranty? That would be the easy fix. Could be the speker itself died though.

Well its 2 speakers, the front door tweeter and the front left dash tweeter. Just seems weird it would only be those two. Could it be wiring? I bought the car CPO and it still has the 60k 5yr, although I dont know if that would cover this kinda stuff?

Update: After restarting the car originally, the problem persisted... after 1 hour and 1 huge chipotle burrito... I restarted the car and the driver side front speakers were working again. Really weird stuff..

Most audio/stereo shops keep burritos for problems like that.

The burrito fix works better if you add guacamole to it. At an extra charge of course.

Sorry to bump, but just figured I'd report I had the exact same issue. 2016 Ultimate, same two speakers (LF tweeter and midrange) weren't producing any sound. The next morning they were working fine again. I figured it was just the summer heat and took the car to the dealer to check it out.

The service tech initially couldn't replicate it, but after some testing said he got speakers to start dropping out on him. They replaced the entire head unit yesterday ($5000 for the 9.2", thank you 36/3 warranty) and everything seemed fine initially. By the time I arrived home the driver's side dash tweeter wasn't working again, though the door midrange works now, so half fixed I suppose? Perhaps an amplifier issue as I've heard that can be common on these, though the sound has never cut out entirely. Going to try and double check wiring and see if they'll replace just the tweeter.

Bought the extended wrap warranty after this just for peace of mind 😬

Hmm interesting. I actually haven't had an issue since this post. In my case, what I believe occurred was that I was speaking to my wife on a Facebook call when I turned off the car. This caused it to remain in the call mode where the driver side speakers become muted. When I let the car sit with the key fob in the home it reset the speakers. That's my thought anyway.

You can buy extra protection from Hyundai after having it for a few years?

Interesting! I wouldn't be surprised if there's some software quirks, I know the navigation voiceover threw me off a bit when it pushed the music to the rear speakers when it talks, it was only after that I noticed the tweeter went out. Given it's just one speaker I imagine mine's just a fluke and needs to be replaced or just a wiring issue.

I just bought the car CPO like a month and a half ago. Paid around $1900 yesterday to add the platinum/exclusionary coverage (10yr/100k $50 deductible), which is the only tier I would bother with. Given the car was recently certified I'm not sure if that affects the price, original dealer offered me $1500 (which is their base cost AFAIK, kind of them!) and I should have accepted it then. Doesn't hurt to ask your local dealership and shop around for quotes, the two I've dealt with offer Fidelity which is about the same as the Hyundai Protection Plan, not sure what dealerships offer the official HPP. I'm fairly sure you can purchase it after the fact though.

Did you pay the $1900 through the original dealer or another, just curious? I'm in that boat myself right now and trying to decide the best approach to obtaining the Platinum Plan and/or Vehicle Service Contract.

Another Hyundai dealership, the original dealer I bought the car from is far across town, so been using my local one. Not a bad price considering I've never bought anything from them, and they can kinda charge whatever they want over the base price I think.

Thanks billy, that's what I thought. It would have surprised me had the original dealer tried to upsell you for more after the sale. I'm getting a quote in the morning and knowing what you recently paid will provide me a guideline.
