Front-end Road Rash

I have a 2016 3.8 AWD Ultimate and have put over 25,000 miles on it since purchasing it 8 months ago. I love the car except that it is too low. At 60 years old I never envisioned myself driving a "low-rider." However, the front cowling of the car has experienced serious road rash from scraping driveways and intersections with not so abnormal drainage slopes. I 've tried going in and out at angles, and that helps some, but that is often not an option. The local dealer gave me a quote of just over $1,000 to repair this (the whole front cowl must be replaced as it is a single piece.) I guess I'm just venting as this is a design issue but wondering if I am alone in this frustration.

If you have front park assist it should give you some warning. After $1000 to fix this you may have to adjust your approach. I never drive all the way up to a concrete parking block, learned this years ago after ripping of my Audi bumper numerous times.

I've driven mine all over and not once had it bottom out in the front as you describe. Maybe something is amiss with your suspension or body panels. If you can find another similar car you may want to compare the front ground clearance with a ruler.

I don't have the lower fascia front-end damage you describe; do you happen to drive on pebbly roads? That being said, even if the road conditions you describe are not common, the front end of this car takes a serious beatiing. I highly recommend getting a clearbra for this car. I'm sure it must seem odd how often I've recommended it (lol just do a search for XPel), but I'm not affiliated with any company. I have just seen how quickly this bumper can take nicks and chips. I got my first one at ~800 miles (between the time I took delivery of the car and the time I could get in for an XPel appointment).

I went into a gas station a few thousand miles ago and the driveway had a weird steep hump entering the lot that I didn't realize I was going to strike; ended up scuffing up the bottom of the bumper a bit. But the car is no lower than most other cars nowadays. Just a weird hump and I approached it wrong since I wasn't expecting it. I've since gone to the same station 4 or 5 times and haven't scuffed once. Luckily mine was only on the underside where you can't see it. Took the paint clear off though on the passensger side. Hopefully it doesn't peel back at some point.
