  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just wondering if anyone else's engine hood doesn't sit entirely flush with the front fascia, or it's just my OCD when I'm washing my car and noticing I can press down on it making it more flush...?

There should be a way to adjust that at the latch area. The rubber bumpers at the corners normally will screw in and out on most makes so as the hood closes more you may need to adjust those slightly so they are not too compressed.

Hmmm... Haven't noticed this on mine. Perhaps I should have a closer look.

Mine doesn't sit flush. I'm going to have the dealer take a look when it's in for service.

I too have noticed that my hood does not sit quite flush and that I can press it down a further making it more flush with the front fascia. I will be asking my dealer to take a look at it during my upcoming 10K service.

I just had my car in for its 1st service and I asked them to take a look at the hood. They did adjust it somewhat so it's sitting a little more flush than before but it's not perfect. I can still press down on it a bit and it sits a little more flush on one side than the other. I took a look at 2 other G70s on the dealer lot and one was similar to mine whereas the other looked better aligned. Given how lightweight the hood is, I wonder if there is some variation in the overall shape of each hood following the stamping process. Short of asking for a new hood (which I doubt they will agree to replace), I'm just going to have to overlook my nitpickiness and live with it.

You can adjust the circular rubber stoppers on the bottom of the hood. Tighten them to lower that side of the hood, loosen them to raise it.

My hood looks fine to me. But others may think it's not. All depends on your level of OCD.

I noticed the same thing on mine when I was purchasing it. I pointed it out to the salesman and he said that was normal. I will take a look at those rubber grommets now.

Those rubber bumpers are adjustable typically up and down, but you want the hood to keep some pressure on them so the hood, while latched can’t vibrate or have a loose feel at the corners. I don’t have a G70 yet, but most cars have some adjustment at the center latch area to account for manufacturer tolerances to surrounding panels. If you need the center point of the hood higher or to sit lower, see if that center latch inside the spring is threaded and can be lengthened or shortened slightly to affect the latched height? If there is only a U shaped catch that hooks to the latch, see if that can be shortened or lengthened to obtain the same affect. Then adjust the corner bumpers as needed.
