  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2011 Genesis 4.6 and live in California - so I need a front license plate.
I noticed that there are 4 tiny bumps on the front bumper that look like a sensor. Does anyone know where I need to put the front license plate? I don't want to cover the sensor with the license plate. Thanks

I'm surprised that your Genesis didn't come with the front license plate mount - it's a plastic unit that is attached to three holes dead center on the bumper. The plastic mount has two holes for the license plate. I would go back to the dealer...

Ditto.

If you purchased your Genesis out of State, the front plate mount should have come with the car, even though it may not have been mounted.
I keep mine in the trunk, next to the spare tire, for the next owner if it gets sold to someone in a two plate state.

I have no need for the mounting bracket and it is still in the plastic bag with everything you need to mount it. If the dealer will not give you the bracket you can have mine for free no strings attached.

Thanks! I sent you a PM.

About front mounting bracket:
No, my car did not come with the front mounting bracket. There were no holes nor the bracket when I purchased the car. I got mine from Tustin Hyundai - the sales person (Mark) told me that they don't put holes in the front because some people don't like to have holes on their new car. I didn't think about it too much when I purchased the car. Now that I am about to have my license plate from the DMV, I think it's becoming an issue. I was thinking about going to Home Depot to purchase a bracket kit to install the license plate.

Interesting. I also got mine from OC Hyundai in Tustin (just around the corner for me!) - but they had to get the car from Allen Hyundai in Laguna Niguel because I wanted a white/cashmere color combination. And the car came with the mounting bracket! I would have preferred to not have it. Once you have the three holes in the bumper, there's no cheap way of filling them in or covering them up.

I know you legally need to have a front plate in California, but I drove my Mustang for over 8 years without one, and never got pulled over. Many top-end cars don't have them, but if I was driving an old POS, I'm sure I'd be a target for the CHP, or some SoCal city's finest...
