Front license plate miscreant

The thread asking how to remove the front license plate inspires my related question. I live in a state that requires a front plate, but I have elected not to install mine and not compromise the beauty of my GV80 grille. I’m curious if others have decided to conspicuously flaunt the law for aesthetic sake and, particularly, if you have ever been challenged by the authorities.

Of course! California requires it, but my dealer was kind enough to leave the bracket off. Much cleaner without. Unless you are being an a-hole, or park in the city of LA, chances are you wont get a ticket. But of course i just jinxed myself.

New Jersey requires a front tag so mine is mounted in the bracket and stored under the rear deck cover, just where I keep the tag for my 2021 for 3 years

Yep, 2021 GV80 in SoCal since April of 2021. Never put the front tag on but carry it in the back in the battery compartment. (Just in case!) Looks so much better without it, and I occasionally pay attention to vehicles driving the opposite direction and you'd be surprised on what percentage don't have front plates.

In days gone by they would pull you over and write you up, but nowadays they don't stop many vehicles for whatever infractions they have or speeds they are going. (Sure wish they would for the ones they used to write up for "Loud-and-Unusual" that speed up and down the road behind our house and cause anxiety problems with our dogs.)

Washington State requires a front plate. Any of you Washingtonians been hassled for not having one? I just picked up a G80 Electrified and there is no front plate (nor mount)........

I ignored the front plate required law here in Colorado. That lasted about 2 weeks before I got popped. The cop was nice enough a gave me a warning.

Good for you Sir! After having to hang a plate on the front I don't think it's such a big deal. It kind of breaks up the huge grill on the GV80. It also doubles the opportunity for the cops to identify a violators vehicle.

Starting from 2015 though the first one was a 2009 I’ve not used a front plate which included 2 G70s and 2021 GV80. Never been stopped. So far most Genesis cars I’ve seen in LI and upstate NY don’t have one either. I’m not justifying it just stating a fact.

Interesting to learn that based on a survey, most Genesis drivers don’t obey NY license plate law.

Many folks here In Colorado also don't obey the front plate required law. But sooner or later it is an excuse to pull you over, write you a fix it ticket and make you prove you've installed a front plate.
