If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Equus (2011-2016)
My 2011 equus loses air in the front overnight, does anyone know what I should check to find the problem.

Why not just take it to the local tire shop? They often fix flats / leaks for free.

Or you can look at the tread & sidewalls for a nail or other puncture, use a spray bottle of water and a little soap and look for bubbles. Check the valve stem, too.

Still, even if you find a leak, you're going to end up back at the local tire shop, so why not just start there.

I did not explain myself clearly, I am referring to the shocks, both front shocks lose air overnight.

I have a 2011 Equus Signature with the same issue only it is the rear. The air suspension just sits down on its haunches after the car sits for a while. When I start it up and put it in gear it automatically raises up. Everything else with the air suspension system seems to work fine. I can raise and lower the car and sport mode works as well. If anyone knows of a reset or fix for this that would be awesome.

Hello, I have a 2011 equus.
Back rear airbags most likely needs to be replaced. Cost is 1299 each at my dealership(total cost $2598) or you could do it yourself and buy aftermarket parts for $303 (with tax) and spend 2 to 4 hours of your time (depending if you are fast or rather slow). I did that 2 weeks ago and it was very easy to do.

link of the airbags i got : Rear RIGHT+LEFT Air SHOCK Bags For Hyundai Equus 2009-2016 55360-3M500 | eBay

the first link shows how to change it on a Mercedes Benz SUV as there are no video about how to do it on equus, but it gives you the idea upon how it works. 2nd link is equus repair manual for those rear airbarg shocks. Only kinda challenge I ran into, was to remove each airbag and to insert each airbags (took me 5 min on one side and 10 min on the other). But beside that, just have to be meticulous and make sure to follow the steps and read the warnings carefully.

Now, my car haven't seat on its rear, while it used to after almost every nights.
good luck.

You have a leak in your airbags. The Equus airbags suck out loud. I had my front ones pop while driving, the rear ones drop overnight (small leak as you described), and the replacement rear ones pop also while driving. Car is at 60k miles. If you are passed warranty, I would recommend paying for a standard suspension swap. Airbags are always an unreliable piece of machinery (look at Landrover, Mercedes) but in my experience, even worse with the Equus.

You can get at least a little time out of the leak as the compressor will fill up the bags when you start up.

Would not fill. Replaced air bag under my extended warranty $100.

Hey, I was able to find the rear airbags and get the whole thing done for about $600. Thanks.

Just curious: I raise my car (2011 56k miles) all the way up for overnight and it’s the same in the morning. If I leave it on normal settings it sags in the back. Thoughts?

It seems like a leak is still the most likely culprit. Mine would sag sometimes and not others as the bags in back slowly faded and got worse. Eventually they sagged every time I parked the car after a short time and I replaced them.

Ty SG. did u use one from the dealer or the chinese bags?

I did not get them from the dealer. I found rear bags for $300 and front replacements for $500. Install on the front was $300 and rear $400.

Oooh woooow great. Mine is 2013 and it has a leak too, good to know that the dealer doesn't necessarily need to be the one fixing it. Thank you

This just happened to me - I have an extended warranty and it's been a bit of a headache trying to find someone to do it. I called a Hyundai dealer and was told their not "certified" to repair an equus...which is just...bananas to me!

Did you go to a dealer or another repair shop?

If the dealer could not do it, most areas have a suspension shop that would.

Now to find a suspension shop that'll accept car shield...heh

Found a suspension shop but Carshield wont cover the cost/repair for my front air suspensions because its called a strut. I'm considering a conversion kit as they shop quoted me a bit over $3k for repairs

Here is a grerat example as to why third party warranties are crap. Always buy manufacture warranties. Dealers like to sell this junk because they make more money on it.

It's heartbreaking yes... When I bought the car the dealer quoted me $600 monthly for a hyundai extended warranty... There's no way I could afford that!
