  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G70
just got my g70 couple weeks ago, and the way the sensors work is really annoying, every time i want to park or use the front sensors i have to press the button on the console to activate the sensors, and then when the car moves past 20 km/h it turns off again, and i have to press it again when i want to use it every time

the only time where it turns on automatically is when i reverse, but if i dont they never turn on without pressing the button, is there a way to make the sensors work at all times if im moving below 20km/h without having to press the button every time?

seems odd, on the G80 it stays on all the time.

is there a setting in the DIS to activate it?

A couple of others brought that up also but I don't recall seeing a resolution. They should be coming on every time once set. You aren't accidentally hitting the button while driving I assume.
I'd see the dealer about it.

Are you referring to the "beep beep beep" warning when the car is close to something "hard" or the overhead surround-view display?

beep beep beep thingy

Your beep beep beep thingy isn't working properly. It should stay active and the button should toggle (with no automatic reset) if the sensors are on or off. May be worthwhile to check the settings on both the main screen and the one between the tach/speedometer.

Checked every setting i could find, there is nothing for the sensors

are all g70s like this or just mine?

Not all but has happened. That is why you have a warranty. Call the dealer.

You'll be happy for the off setting if you live in a snowy area where the sensors get covered in ice or snow and start screeching at you continually.

Update : went to the dealer a few days ago, they said that it’s normal and thats the way it functions, but i wasnt sure about it, so i asked to try another new g70, we tried another car and it was the same as my car, so i guess its normal.

That doesnt sound right, the sensors should always be on with the button pressed to turn the system off

Assuming you mean below 6 mph, yes, if the button is ON.
This is from the G80 manual but I doubt the G70 would be different.

Operating condition
- When the Engine Start/Stop button
is in the ON position
- When the shift lever is in D or R
position
- When the vehicle speed is not over
6 mph (10 km/h)
Push the parking assist system button
to the ON position to operate the
parking assist system. The indicator
in the button turns on.
To cancel the system, push the button
again. The indicator in the button
turns off.
• The system will operate automatically
every time the vehicle speed
is below 6 mph (10 km/h) with the
system switched on.
• When you move the shift lever to R
position with the system switched
off, the indicator in the button will
turn on and the system will operate
automatically regardless of button
status. However, if the vehicle
speed exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h)
when driving forward, the indicator
in the button will turn off. The system
will not automatically operate
again even if vehicle speed returns
to 6 mph (10 km/h).
To turn on the system, press the
parking assist system button.
• When more than two objects are
sensed at the same time, the closest
one will be recognized first.

That's NOT normal.
When "P" button is pressed the yellow light will be on and the system will remain ON all the time, the sensors will ALWAYS work when the car is below 6 MPH.
Now, when "P" is OFF the system will engage automatically when you press Reverse and still will work even when you engage D until you drive more than 10 MPH and then will stop working and this how is working in your car.
Seems to me you have the system off. Have you see when you turn the car on if the blue light from the P button is on?

so this is how it works in my car >> when it's in reverse, it works and everything is fine, i put it in D and it still works, i start moving while its on when i reach 20 km/h it turns off automatically, then when i slow down to below 20 km/h it is still off even if i stop the car, the 'P' button DOES NOT turn on automatically, i can turn it on by pressing it or by putting the car into reverse.

when i went to the dealer we tried a new car that was not used and it worked exactly the same as mine, so what are the odds of both cars not working properly? lol

maybe the system works differently in cars in canada/ US ? (im in the middle east)

this sentence
'The system will operate automatically
every time the vehicle speed
is below 6 mph (10 km/h) with the
system switched on.' is not mentioned in my manual

If you have the P on it will work always but if you have the P off it works only when you put reverse and them I will turn off after you get 12 MPH
Read this thread, this has been discussed before.
