2021
Genesis Model Type
Genesis GV80
This option is listed on the new 2021 G80 3.5T, top trim level. What is it? Can find no description of what it does, other that a general description that relates to the back passenger seat in a two door vehicle not a Genesis. Since my wife is disabled I am trying to determine if the option would be useful. Thanks.

I saw that and wondered about what that was also. Anyone?

I suspect it is the power seat control buttons on the seat back facing the driver so the driver can move the recline and seat forward or backward as needed for rear passengers, per the patent..

note the controls on the G70 for the same feature:

The lack of it in my 2018 is the one sore spot I have with the vehicle, as I like to keep my passenger seat is a specific position when I am the only driver, it is set in such a way it doesn't block my view when I have to look over my right shoulder and out the passenger window when changing lanes or backing up, as I back into a corner space at work it is a pain in the ass if the seat is too far back or too far forward as it obstructs my view.

whenever I have passengers, wife, kid or otherwise they inherently move the seat when they get in and then don't put it back when they get out, and since I don't have the feature I have to get out walk around the car and readjust the seat.

I think the term "front seat passenger" is a bit confusing. It is for the front seat but the rear passenger. This is the Palisade and would be handy

not quite the same in an SUV as it is for the 3rd row seating, in the G70/80/90 it is designed for a chauffeur situation (or Uber I guess) where the driver can move the entire front passenger seat forward and tilted so the rear passenger has full leg room for entry and exit. Likely saves the seat from being damaged from idiot uber passengers as well.

I believe this is G90 option. In Korea the G90 is sold as a chauffeur driven vehicle and this moves the front passenger seat all the way forward and up to make more room for the "owner" to enter.

Anyways that is my guess and I am sticking to it!

it's available on the G70 and G90 now and on the refreshed G80 in 2021. most mid-size and full-size sedan manufacturers now offer it because of the whole Uber/Lyft thing.

So how does the word walk-in fit? Is there another way to get in besides walking? Dive-in? Crawl-in?

i guess if one is drunk enough crawl-in would work....

For my senior prom I borrowed a '48 Chrysler to take my date (later wife) and another couple. That was a walk in.

Wow you must be old! My first car was a '49 Ford coupe.

Yes, I am old. 75 next month.. First car was a '53 Mercury 2 door so I borrowed the Chrysler from by sister's fiance for the prom in '63. He paid $50 for the car that year.

The flat head V-8 Merc never needed an oil change, it was automatic. You just added a quart every few hundred miles so it was always fresh.

I'm 76. I have fond memories of my old cars even though they were borderline junkers. But I was 16-17 year old and they were mine. I paid $50 for my '49 Ford.

Boy how similar. I had a 53 Olds 98 Holiday V8, I bought for $55.00. when I was 16. A $29.95 Earl Schieb paint job, English Racing Green, $9.00 baby moon hub caps all the way around and it was a sweet ride. Back seat was like a suite at the Waldorf. Loved that car. I am 73. My wife still says those were our best years. :)

Similar age (75). In high school, '61-'62, three of us would chip in to buy a fifty-vintage Ford for $50. We might spend a few bucks more to dress it up (as did It2211 above). None of us were "wrenches", and when maintenance or repairs became beyond our capabilities, we'd sell it for $50 and repeat the process. Went through three of them.
Converting the column shifter to a floor shifter was popular among rodders, but again beyond our skills. Joel became very proficient at wrapping his left arm around the steering wheel to stealthily manipulate the shifter, and exaggeratedly moving his right shoulder and arm to simulate working a floor shifter. (Don't know if any onlooker ever noticed, or cared.)

Back to topic?

well I'm ~20ish years younger than ya'll, but here a picture of my early Ford. I can tell you it cost me a bit more than $50....

Built this in the late 1990s, still have it, in the process of redoing it, new interior, putting back the door handles (shaved doors are so 90s), raising it back up and putting OEM style wheels on it (though not true OEM as they won't bolt up because of the Mustang II front end and 9" Ford rear axle).

If you paid $29.95 you must have gotten the deluxe job where they paint the door jambs.

I like the teardrop headlights.

Thanks for the info on the walk in seat device and the trip down memory lane.
