  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This past Sunday I pulled in to fuel up the Genesis. After fueling I tried to close the fuel door. No latching and the door popped back open. The solenoid seemed to be functioning correctly. Looked closer and it appeared the latching pin had broken, or sheared off.:(

Went in Monday AM to Red Hoagland Hyundai in Winter Haven Florida to have it checked. Manny, the super tech, checked it out out. Sure enough the pin was sheared off.

The car only has 3000 miles, and so I was wondering, has anyone else had this failure? Part is on order and should be in by Thursday.:)

On a different topic. On the 10 mile drive to Red Hoagland, I picked up a 4" piece of steel bar in my left rear tire though the function of the tread and sidewall. The tire went flat while we were looking at the fuel latch issue.:(

Red Hoagland didn't have a tire in stock, but ordered one that would be in by 2 PM, so they gave me a loaner. Tire came in, as scheduled, and now I'm back in the Genny.

This dealership is hard to beat, fantastic friendly service all around.:)

Who paid for the tire?

As I did not buy road hazard insurance, I paid for the tire. BTW - I purchased the Genny as a CPO with 1900 miles on it.

Doesn't the tire warranty still cover that being that it has low miles or does that not cover road hazard?

I went to Discount Tire and purchased road hazard and rotation right after I purchased my Genny. It was about half the cost of what the dealer wanted. Yes it doesn't cover the rims, but you choose your level of coverage.

Good suggestion on the Road Hazard from Discount Tire. Dealer wants $430 for road hazard.

Back on topic, the new gas door latch is on "backorder". ??? I still wonder if this problem is occurring on Gennies owned by people who don't follow this forum.

My fuel door release pin broke today...9/2/15. I have 22,000 mi on my Genesis and love it except for the occasional severe vibration coming from the underbody somewhere. I plan to contact my dealer who has been pretty good to me to see if they have the part in stock. A weakened pin?

Does anyone have a part# for the Fuel Door Latch; i have had the same issue, and would rather not waste time going to the Dealer Service. Am assuming that the install should not be too hard for a DIY. Question would be availability online, and cost; what would be the best place to buy?

Thanks

My fuel door latch had broke too, the part number is
81590-B1000, you can find them on ebay between $45-$75. I'm still looking to see if this covered under warranty or if someone has a DIY video.
