  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Fuel Filler Overflow

My Hyundai dealer washes my car when they're done with it. But loaners are hard to come by. Lexus always had lots of loaners, but I think I'd still be paying less for service at Hyundai if I rented a car each time :-)

If we wanted to pay Lexus prices, we would have bought Lexi.

Also, Lexus is basically a Camry in heavy makeup. Genesis is its own thing.

Resurrecting an old thread here because this just happened to me today...the pump didn't shut off when the tank got full.

But the worst thing about this is that the rubber collar around the filler neck has a drain hole that simply drains any overflow fuel into the inside of the wheelwell where the gas is promptly absorbed by the felt-like wheel well liner. My whole garage now smells like gas due to the saturated wheelwell liner.
You'd think this drain hole would have a tube or to direct the overflow to the ground or something, not simply dump it onto an absorbent surface of the car.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add that I have this same issue.

I have a 2009 Genesis with the same problem. I have taken a video of this issue to prove the amount of fuel/gas that shoots out of the filler opening.

I took car to the dealer and they Diag that the charcoal canister and the valve associate with the charcoal canister needed (and were replaced).
When I went to the dealer, I showed them this post and still decided that the issues was the charcoal canister and valve associated with the charcoal canister.
Well ~$600 later and still having the issue. :P
Now it's time to revisit the dealer for answers/resolution.

13 r spec and mine does it if any gas overshoots the fill and drains down small hole in fill overflow. I have to be careful when I know tank is getting full.

I never have had this problem....
I always shove the filler in as far as it goes.

Never had this problem, but if I did, I would try listening to the sound of the refuel which the pitch changes about 5-10 seconds before it shuts off (full). Maybe I have a keen ear, but this is what I would do.
