  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So it’s pretty much as it sounds. I have a newish (months) old battery for my 2011 3.8 sedan, and suddenly today my car died and there was zero power anywhere. Got it jumped off, made it to O’Reillys, this time it would not jump start for the store. Only turned on the lights and windows/ac etc.. it clicks once when attempt to start usually. Can only operate features when jumper cables are applied. The store seemed to think it was a starter since it clicked. His meter was showing not enough voltage, failed start. Any thoughts?

Check the fuse block directly on top of the battery.

Once I also had the bad luck of a new battery failing on me (<90 days). Rare but it happens.

EDIT: also look for loose/corroded/worn wiring and grounds. 12 year old cars have 12 year old car problems.

I had the same thing happen to my 2013 Genesis 3.8 Sedan today. Battery seems to be at full power, but when I push the start button, all power to the car is shut off. It took several tries to jump start it, but it finally started. I don't think the battery is the problem. It sounds like a connection issue. So far, I haven't located where the cables from the fuse box in the engine compartment connect to the starter. This is NOT the easiest car to crawl under....
If you find the solution before I do, please post it here. I will do the same if I find out what is causing this issue.

You need a new alternator

I had this issue once. Bunch of dummy lights came on and car died within 10 seconds of getting it off the road. Same clicking noise too. Towed to dealer (warranty) and they replaced starter and alternator. No problems since.
