  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As soon as I got the car I modified the spare area by removing the foam with the tools in it and wrapping them in towels. I then put a full size spare in the wheel well, placed the tools inside it, and a plug in compressor, and put a small piece of plywood over it. Trunk mat covers it perfectly. Good feeling to have.

Nice to know that full size spare will fit, however I do not think that the tire pressure monitoring system can accept a 5th sensor for a spare tire. Therefore, I would have to get the damaged tire repaired regardless if I wanted to get rid of the tire pressure warning message a deflated tire will trigger; so it would not be worth the trouble in my situation to use a full sized spare over the temporary spare tire since I would have my damage tire repaired the same day.

However, it would a good ideal to have a full sized spare for a long trip through remote places with repair shops that may not have a proper tire for the Genesis. I would then just deal with tire pressure warning until can I find a tire shop that can properly repair my tire damage or have the correct tire in stock.

The temporary spare tire does the job well around town just fine, so no need to upgrade it. Hell, since I use a road hazard service to change flat tires or tow my car to a repair shop I was actually considering removing my spare tire for an custom 15in subwoofer enclosure. Or I can just buy run-flat tires.:)

Changing flat tires can be dangerous on my local highways, so I leave that to the professionals.

I have a full size spare with pressure sensor in the 5.0. I kept the foam, but trimmed off the sides to fit.

I even got to use it, unfortunately!! And the car detected the spare sensor just fine, it just ignores whatever is in the trunk.

The sensors don't communicate with the car until they are rotated at a decent speed (perhaps 20+MPH) which is why the spare in the trunk sits dormant until spun on a wheel

Just curious what wheel you used for your full size spare. I'm trying to find one fire cheap. I already have extra tire.

If you want a OEM wheel you can get a refurbished rim for around $225 at most bodyshop's. Possibly lower if you can find one online locally or with free shipping.

I have a rim that was slightly bent in two spots on the inside. I had it straightened at the shop and drove on it for couple of months. Finally decided to replace it with the new one as I would experience very slight vibration. Vibration was barely noticable and almost not noticable for someone who drove my car for the first time. If you are interested, I can send you the pics and you can give me the offer. It is 18in for the 3.8 though.
