  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys,

I'm going to be purchasing my genesis within the next 3 months and I just had a few questions. I am planning on getting a Certified pre-owned 2012 or 2013 genesis with under 15k miles for about 24k OTD(hopefully). I just had a few quick questions about the genesis and the CPO program in general...

Genesis
- Do you think the extra ~2k it costs to get a 2013 rather than a 2012 is worth the cost? (warranty wise)
- Are there any significant differences between the 2012 and 2013 models?(I know about blue tooth but as far as reliability or improved features)

CPO
- How difficult is it to have a CPO car serviced at dealerships(not incl the one the car was purchased at)
- Has anyone had any problems(major or minor) that are not covered under the warranty(CPO or original)?

I'm excited to be a new genesis owner and if there are any tips or recommendations for my purchase it would be greatly appreciated!

We bought a 2013 CPO with 27,000 last year. Had to take it in because it kept cutting off on my wife while driving it. They had it for over a week and tested everything before calling up to Hyundai. Figured out it was carbon deposits supposedly not letting fuel get to where it needs to go. My mechanic told us we need to get out and punch it every now and then, don't be shy. :D Anyhow, I had no problems with them servicing it and didn't pay a dime.

The difference on the 12 vs 13 is more than bluetooth. They did a major update on the Navi/Audio system in general and I find it to be much better in 13+ then in the 12- model years. For me, the 13+ is the way to go.

I cannot speak to the CPO questions. But I do not see you having any issues with service. I had a used (non-CPO) 2011 that I took into dealer for warranty work twice and had great experiences both times. I think mostly it is like any other car brand I have owned. There are great dealers, good dealers, not so good dealers and those that you just want to see go out of business because they are terrible. Same has held true for me in Chevrolet, Toyota, Ford, Mercedes, Nissan - So I cannot imagine Hyundai is much difference. Certainly I have had great dealer service so far.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'm just going to wait it out to get a good 2013 model. I'm very excited to be getting my hands on one and I'm hoping when I'm ready to buy I'll be able to find one easily.

Are you thinking about the Base Genesis, the Premium package, or the Tech package????

The Base package is a real nice car, and so is the Premium, but the Tech package on the Genesis, with the V6, elevates the car into a full blown Luxury car.

That was actually something I was curious about. I definitely want navigation so I was going to go with the tech or premium but I was curious as to what the difference was.

Tech package it is! I'm hoping I can find a certified one with under 15 or 20k miles for around 24k. Thank you for the help

Be wary of the 2012 5.0 V8. It's been known to consume oil as there is an on-going thread here regarding that. I would for sure go 2013 even if it has a few more miles.

I just purchased a 2012 CPO with 30k miles for 24k. It is a tech package and was in really good condition. Black on black. Just to give you an idea. Closer to 20k the miles were in 45-50k range.

Love the car, and I would only purchase Tech package.

Yeah I'm probably just going to get the 3.8 and save some money.

I'm hoping I can find a 2013 and negotiate down into my price range but I'm okay with going up to 26k if I really can't find anything. How long ago did you buy your 2012?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Last summer I paid 21K for a 2013 CPO base model with 27k miles. Car is in near perfect condition inside and out. Have had no issues in the several months I've owned it other than the immediate need to replace the crappy stock tires with Bridgestone Serenity Plus. Rides smooth, great stereo, comfy seats and hauls ass.

I purchased it on Saturday. The only 2013s I could find in my area were base models. I found a few 2012 4.6 models for 22k but had 50k miles. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Good luck!

I just bought a 2014 that was used as a service loaner with 4k on for 28k. Never titled so has 10/100k warranty on her. Might want to look for one of those in your area.

Congrats! Just be aware that the '12 Tech package does not stream BT audio, whereas the '12 Base and Premium models do.

Thanks for the heads up! Funny how a tech package doesn't come with Bluetooth streaming.

At the moment I'm using a aux cable but thinking about buying an aux Bluetooth streaming receiver.

Cars been amazing and couldn't be happier!

Never titled? Was it listed as new or CPO? And for 28 you got a base model? That sounds like a steal to me
