G2 spotting: Chicagoland

Interesting bit today on my way home from helping a friend move in the west suburbs. Maybe it was someone on here? Beuller? Beuller???

For being such a populous area - I rarely see G2's in Chicagoland out in the wild - especially considering how much time I spend on the road (nearly 100 miles a day). In fact - in the last year I think I have only seen about half a dozen or so. Today adds another.

I was heading east on I88 & heading to the I355 north ramp when a black, tinted, tech (or higher - had the radar) was coming off the 355N ramp and onto I88 east. We were side-by-side briefly and as my cruise was set I was pulling ahead and we crossed lanes since I was exiting and he was entering. Stuck a peace sign out the window and got flickered highbeams back, so I blinked the brakes. As they passed while I decelled for the exit ramp the passenger waved and I did in return.

Must have been an interesting sight for those around us - twin, uncommon, "mystery" cars in stark contrast - black & white. Wish I coulda see it from a 3rd party perspective.

Agree, I live in Chicago area and drive a lot (have a black Ultimate so thought maybe you had seen me). In my 6 mos of ownership and 8000 miles I have only seen three G2;s all black! This is amazing to me (I feel I am pretty observant in noticing other cars particularly G2s). Anyway the 'exclusivity' is great.

Go figure, I've had mine for a month and when leaving work last week saw one with the exact same exterior as mine, followed it for a bit to see what mine looks like while driving. Liked it... (Rochester MN.)

Saw one in Mokena yesterday around noon. It was leaving Stoney Creek Grill on La Grange rd as I pulled in. Not sure on the color; montecito blue? Kind of a bluish/silverish color.

I change up routes between La Grange and Lisle in the mornings, alternating between Ogden and 88, depending on what I've got going on (I never take 88 going home... 294 is a nightmare). I see a fair amount of G2s on 88. Not so many on Ogden, which is funny if you think about Pugi being right there.

For the longest time myself and another gentleman in my neighborhood, were the only one around northeast Ohio with a G2, until about 6 months ago. I now see at least one a day.

That would likely be Parisian Gray!

Over the past few weeks I've had a few encounters with another (or the same?) bluish-silverish G2 on eastbound Ogden in the Westmont/Downers area. Might be getting off at Cass? I really need to spend some time in a dealer lot learning these colors. Internet photos just don't help me differentiate colors when I see them in person.

I'm in Downers Grove and have a white/gray 3.8 AWD Ultimate. Took ownership last month. Loving the exclusivity!

Friday night I went to see Star Wars for the 2nd time at the AMC Yorktown, and there just happened to be an open slot next to this car with manufacturers plates on it... so I thought I'd say hi. It was gone when we came out of the movie 3 hours later.

Wow... Both cars look nice...they don't have the front license plate in Quebec, Canada... from Quebec?

No it had manufacturer's plates on it. Likely from the local Hyundai import/export office. For some reason they are exempt from front plates while everyone else is required to have them.
