  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm thinking about getting the g70 2.0 AWD base model. I'm wondering those who have it what's your experience? Does it feel slow, I saw online 0-100km times of around 7 seconds. I'm gonna test drive it in March but also want people's opinions.

If you want something fast for a similar price, go for the Golf R.
Interest rate is higher though!

Yea the interest rate is part of the reason I can afford this car.
I was just wondering how fast the car feels 0-100km times can only tell you so much.

I didn't buy the 2.0t for the speed. The driving dynamics is what I bought it for. Plus I wanted a 2 liter turbo for commuting to work!
It feels just as fast accelerating as my TL SH-AWD.

Honestly the 2.0L is more than adequate. I've never felt it lacks power. It's simply often in the background due to the existence of the "more power than you realistically need" 3.3T.

In most driving situations it's plenty of power to put a smile on your face, but it's those few instances where you just wished you had those 100+ extra horses. With 2 or 3 passengers, you will notice the slower pick up.

Having tested the 3.3T and owning the 2.0T, I'm left wanting more. The turbo lag is noticeable - most of the time I have to downshift two gears (which are not instantaneous), wait for the engine to get up to 4000, and then it pulls away. The 3.3T has nice torque available at most RPM.

On the flip side, I'm enjoying the cheaper fill ups. With either car, you will have enough power to out pace 80%* of cars on the road.

*Made up the number all by myself

I can't say I feel any turbo lag but that's also because on my previous car, I only got the kick when it hit VTEC.
Anyway I'm always around 1,400rpm while cruising so it's already on boost anyway!
Feels nicer driving a slower car fast than not getting many opportunities to even use most of the potential use of the faster car!
I felt that my TL was wasted on me and wanted a fun to drive 2.0t so I tested some of them. BMW was on the last model year. Audi A4 was nice but I hated looking at the blank buttons. Didn't quite like the look of the Infiniti infotainment. Lexus didn't have AWD on their 2.0t and MB wasn't giving me any excitement.
If I had more money and less brains, I would go for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio!

the 2.0T feels quicker than some of the test data indicate. there are 0-60 times ranging from ~6.1s all the way to ~7.4s. which is crazy.

i suspect once side-by-side comparos with the usual suspects are available we'll see the G70 in the ballpark of competitors. for both the 4-cyl and 6-cyl engine options.

we've seen the test data from the Stinger 2.0T in the ~6.2s range, so the G70 will be as quick or quicker.

I agree. I don't think the 2.0t has been properly tested. Especially the Auto.

Experience with my sophisticated butt dyno tells me that majority of the time, it provides a very satisfying kick.
If I want to accelerate from a roll, then shifting down once or twice seems to get me in the right RPM range. When getting going from a stop, the surge kicks in around 4500 and really pulls, sometimes with a bit of unpredictability.

You're right this car should start getting the attention it deserves. Almost every dealership scoffed at the mention of Genesis when I was shopping around... to the point of telling me that I was wasting my time (or their's in some instances).

I've had the 2.0 since January and it's enough for me. I'm coming from a VW Golf so power-wise it's a big improvement. I no longer struggle passing on the highway. Plus, the 3.3 wasn't appealing for me due to the higher sticker price and the lower fuel economy.

Glad you are happy with your car. Anything else you love or hate aboot it?

For me getting the 2.0T is hard knowing I could spend a few thousand extra dollars and get the 3.3T, a big what if.

Thanks for the perspective.
haha, great choice, If I had a 'bit' more money I would go for the M5 :).

I'm coming from a Kia Soul, so the 2.0 is 100 more HP than I'm used to.

The Prestige 2.0t in Canada is 52k and so is the 3.3t Dynamic. I was tempted to change my order during my 2 week wait period but I stayed the course with the smaller turbo!
Glad I did cause I would need to refuel every 3.5 days with my commute!

No matter what engine you have, once in a while you wish for more. Not a perfect comparison, but I had the 2.0 in a Sonata and it was VERY adequate. I'd get in in a G70 with no hesitation.

I'm sure I will one day. But I only use it for work and so far nobody has tried to race me yet!

I had similar impressions of the 2.0 (AWD) as those above. 'Adequate' is the best word for me that came to mind. You really don't need any more power for driving....but the heart does not always think with such logic. ;)

The automotive industry was built on lack of logic. Of all the cars on the road, how many can you say are 100% practical? Logic would have us driving Elantras and mini-vans, your choice of 4 colors. . No need for anything over about 120 HP.
