  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 2.0 AWD Canada

Asian countries have minivans with 2.0 NA engines and they are more than adequate for them!
Heck there are even 600cc hatchback cars.

The automotive industry was built on lack of logic. Of all the cars on the road, how many can you say are 100% practical? Logic would have us driving Elantras and mini-vans, your choice of 4 colors. . No need for anything over about 120 HP.

Yup, exactly. The questions isn't necessarily about bare bones economy or practically.
If this demographic is considering the Genesis brand (BMW, Benz, etc), you expect frills and creature comfort. There would be an expectation that it is paired well with a powerful/more than adequate power-train.

this was posted by someone else a while ago, but here's the theoretical acceleration data which aligns with the 2.0T 8AT specs:

Full performance review of 2019 g70_1 offered since late-year 2018 for North America

0-60 mph in 5.9s. 0-100 kmh in 6.2. those numbers make complete sense. it accounts for gearing, final drive, full tank of fuel plus 200lbs load for driver.
I think that was the one I posted.
Do you think the 6MT will be a little faster? Also Canadian spec 6MT is slightly under 200 lbs lighter than top of range 2.0T Prestige. And 1/4 tank of gas may improve time as well.

^ good question! not sure, but my guess is that the quickness and gearing of the 8AT would roughly offset the lighter weight but fewer gears (and slower shift times) of the 6MT. RWD 6MT is certainly the lightest spec of the bunch, no question. i could tell that immediately after driving the 3.3T which is several hundred lbs heavier. AT has launch control, but as with all MT's the driver is the 'launch control'...subject to ability and human error.

manuals used to be quicker than slushboxes, but that is no longer the case. the new AT's (and of course dual-clutch) have so many gears and shift so quickly, MT's can't keep up. but that's not really the point, is it? i couldn't care less that the AT version may be a tenth or two quicker to 100 kmh.

Do you have the elbow and armrest issue Yuri bitches about?
I absolutely loved driving the Golf R 6MT.

Okay gonna revive this thread for a second go at it...
I record the digital speedometer during launch and finally got around to editing them to see what the 0-100kmh time is. Then I decided to do 0-60mph instead for our American friends.
Did it via iMovie on my phone and 60mph is just shy of 97kmh.
2.0T, AWD Prestige. So the heaviest 2.0T trim out there. Anyway my best stock 0-60mph launch was 6 secs and my worst is 6.6secs. Also had a 6.3 in there.

^ nice!! And with your bitchin’ JB4?

5.8secs so far without fuel wires. With fuel wires, even though it feels like a stronger pull, it hasn't given me a better launch!
If only I can get boost to stay above 20psi for longer than a few secs......
Veloster N guys not sharing their custom tweaks like fuel bias and other stuff.
Octane Booster and K&N filter is next!

Get a full intake! More performance, better mileage when going easy on the freeway, and it will sound better!

I would but I want to keep it as stock as possible. I'm going to find out if it will void my warranty. If it doesn't then I may spring for it!

Alright got down to 5.6secs on Map6 with +1psi all across the rpm range.
Seems like a custom map is the way to go rather than Map1 or Map2.

WOW!!! That’s awesome. Huge improvement

Yeah the funny thing is, that it didn't feel as fast as Map2.
But it is more of the linear power I think rather than the visceral boost kick with the boost profile of Map1 or Map2.
Beef try out Map6 and give it +2psi across the board for shits and giggles and time it!
