  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Of course the new Cadi V- Series is NOT the fire breathing ultra sports sedan V-Series from the CTS years.... It's the Mid Level.. Like the old CTS V-Sport.. The New V Series equivalent will be BLACKWING... Can't belileve they made this dumb of a move but anyway ....

So this is about even at 360hp vs 365hp..... but who knows on the dyno........... and of course that new G70 3.5T is about to come out.

Cadillac is basically doing the same thing as Audi & BMW, with a base, mid-level sport, and an M3 level sport package.
It doesn't look like the G70 or the Stinger are going get the 3.5 liter this year. I do wonder why they didn't just bump up the tuning on the 3.3T and give 40 more HP. The only thing I can think of is that they run into emission issues that aren't a problem with just increasing the stroke of the existing Lambda II to bump it to 3.5 liters.

  • Are the Genesis paddle shifters plastic?
  • Funny he doesn't point out that the climate controls in the rear in the G70. He points out a lot of little areas that he subjectively thinks the Cadillac wins at. Minor thing, but it does make me question his objectivity.
  • I do not think the CT5-V exhaust sounds better than the G70s. It sounds more hollow; reminds me of GM V6 engines from the past that burbled but didn't produce (even though this engine does).

I actually just watched this before I saw it posted here, and I like Redline Reviews. I obviously haven't driven it but I'm pretty interested in the CT5-V. Looks great, sounds good. Definitely cross-shopping it when my lease is up.

I think it was a good review overall, however like most of us my choice would not be the Caddy. I had one before the G70 and although it handled well and had some redeeming qualities, other things weren't great.

I do like the front end and the overall looks of the CT5. I think it sounds better...The infotainment screen is larger than ours but already behind what the new G70 and others will have in the next few months and not just screen size. I wish 0-60 would stop being the measure of performance... That's all down to LC.

The problem with all these Youtube reviewers is that if they offer anything other than milqutoast criticism of the car, they won't be getting more press cars to review.

meh. overall i don't have too many issues with the review. he covers most bases reasonably well, and admits that subjective preferences are just that - subjective. since the Caddy is newer (by 1 year) it gets the nod for a few subjective aspects likely just because it is fresher.

the size of the CT5 makes it a bit of an unfair fight, but i didn't want a cavernous interior anyways. of course i wish the G70 had more leg and foot room - that alone would go a long way to quell any interior space criticism. but it doesn't, so that critique is fair game.

like others, i wouldn't consider a Caddy in any case, even though the CT5 could be a decent package. old stigmas die hard...and i'm sure i never thought i'd own a Hyundai product. so never say never i suppose...

I think the Caddy is pretty nice, especially if you're looking for more rear seat room. However, I just built one on their website, and to get it optioned the way my G70 Design is costs an extra $14k (almost as much as the M340i), so it's a good bit more expensive if you compare apples to apples.

I just don't get why a guy 5'7 is so enamored with a bigger sports sedan. I'm 6'2 and love the size of the G70. I also don't get the whole loud crackling exhaust being a bonus. The G70 has enough growl to let you know what's going on, more than that is just annoying.

The GM pricing model - add $10K or so to the reasonable FMV and then give it back with incentives, rebates etc.

When Cadillac first announced the CT5 -V (with the Blackwing), I anticipated taking a really hard look when it came out. Since then and all the changes Cadillac has made to the CT%-V, because it is no longer is a true Vee, I bought the G80. I'm very happy with that decision. Of course, I still have the ATS-V in the garage that goes out occasionally for fun.

The CT5 Blackwing is a whole different ballgame. Rumored 650 HP... I'll take one please!
Some CT5 and CT4 blackwings in action.

One thing I’m most annoyed/dissatisfied with my G70 is the dealer experience. It’s literally just a Hyundai dealer. I’m saying this as a young person who generally don’t need or even like physical in-person service anyway. My past experience with Ford dealerships were much more professional.

Haven’t been to a Cadillac dealer but if they are anything like the Germans (BMW Audi Mercedes),it’d be much preferable to a “Genesis” dealer.

In my experience with Cadillac (Cadillac of Turnersville), Genesis (Genesis of Cherry Hill & Genesis of Cocoa
Beach) is much better.
