  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello. I recently test drove a ’19 G70 3.3T Advanced. I’m coming from a ’17 Q60RS. Although the RS has 400hp the G70 has 365hp and they are both around the same weight. I felt the G70 was under performing. Just didn’t feel like 365hp. I would appreciate any feedback. Was it because it’s not a Sport? Not broken in? I’m hoping to by a ’20 G70 3.3T Sport. I really like the car otherwise, lots of bang for the buck. I understand they are different cars and price points. Thanks for your input.

car and driver rated them about the same in 0-60 and the quarter mile; without driving a Q60RS myself I couldnt tell you why youre feeling such a difference. The advanced rwd should be the fastest 3.3 in a straight line available since it doesnt have all the extra weight of the other models. Break in wouldnt be the cause. Although a broken in engine can be slightly faster, its not like you would be able to tell the difference form the butt dyno

Thanks joschneider. I forgot to point out the advanced was AWD or HTRAC.

What driving mode did you have the car in? Could be the marginal difference in the throttle response in the G70 comfort/eco mode compared to what i'm completely guessing may be a slighly sportier stock throttle response in the Q60? My second guess would be comfort/noise differences between the cars changing your perception of hp.

It was in sport. G70 sounds better. Q60RS sounds like a 4 banger...

This isn't the first time I've heard this or even thought it myself. The G70 is fast by the numbers, no doubt -- but it doesn't always "feel" fast. I think the launch is so mild that it really masks the cars capabilities. I've driven in cars with much less HP that "feel" faster. Not sure what the cause is... No drivetrain lash, soft launch, smooth engine, quiet exhaust.... All of them.. Where I do notice the acceleration most is when I need to get in front of someone. I'm often surprised how far and quickly they disappear into my rear view mirror.

You also could be feeling the difference that an extra 35HP make, that's nearly 10%, so you should feel it. Put an extra 380lbs in the infinity and see if it feels faster.

Assuming of course that both manufacturer's HP numbers are accurate. Sometimes the low ball it.

Agree with this. Also, if you are comparing RWD to AWD, the RWD can seem faster (I think); but if you had it in Sport mode, it should have simulated closer to RWD (I think that is correct--others know this way more than I do).
I do think it is deceptive in how fast it is. Many times I find myself far ahead of someone who pulled up next to me at a stop light--and I was not (at the time) intentionally trying to see how quickly I could go--it just is deceptively quick.

I remember when I drove both back when I was looking that they felt similar although I never drove them back to back so hard to say. I also drove the Q50RS, not the 60. Not sure how much lighter/quicker it may be.

Keep in mind that the straight line is just one thing and should still be very close. The steering and handling was way better in the G70 imo. And it has a ton of features simply not available in the Q50/60 like:
- app to start/stop/lock/etc car
- HUD
- wireless chargin
- vented front seats
- heated rear seats
- rear seat usb

And I am sure others. Although those last two are mostly only important if you have kids like me. :)

The Q50/60 Red Sports were top on my list hen I started shopping and I as very excited when I found a dealer that had one so I could test drive it. 400HP I thought would be amazing then I drove it and hated the transmission because the car FELT very slow compared to the G70 3.3 I had driven.

The Infotainment system was also a major let down compared to the G70, I make it a point to rent a Q50 or Q60 when i'm going out of town as the 3.0 versions FEEL fast and are enjoyable to drive minus the infotainment.

In the end for my hard earned dollars I obviously chose G70 but if I had kids and the backseat became majorly important I wouldn't hate an Infinity.
