  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 aftermarket brake pads

Rob was saying that as long as you can confirm that your Genesis will take the same pads/rotors as a Kia Stinger, you're fine. I don't remember which rotors he was recommending, he might have said the name but what saying he has nothing and stock and will have to bring it in.

The timing is not good cause we are moving to Waterloo (from mississauga) in less than 2 weeks, and there will be a few back/forth trips...

I wonder if the dealer's price for the pads has increased in the last year, like so many other things. After pressing them (back in 2019), I was able to get the Euro pads from the dealer for about $400 (still too much). This was after showing them the online price from another dealer that sells at a discount.

I cant find the stoptech parts on their site, which is really annoying.

All that shows up is positech. I agree, i think the stoptech will be better for the vehicle, just wish i could figure out the part number for the rears.
so spoke with my buddy who has taken a look at my car and is doing the install. You were right, at 50K, he is saying just get the pads, and we will worry about the rotors later, and a good chance that I will get 2 more years out of existing rotors (I already got 3) and by then I'm done my lease...

But what am I ordering?
and

Or the street select that @canucklehead604 is mentioning...

^ if you did OK with your first set of factory pads (which are ceramic), meaning you didn't have any pad deposits which lead to "warped rotors", then go with the posi-quiets which are also ceramic. sounds like a good fit for your needs and commute. the stoptech pads are a higher-performance pad which may be overkill for your use as a daily driver.

Yup that pair is what Rob mentioned. The stoptech sport for the front and posiquiet for the back. The stoptech are available on amazon (free shipping and will arrive sooner). I cannot for the life of me find the rear stoptech pads, which makes me believe they do not exist. Would explain why Rob has the posiquiets for the rear as an alternative.

You could go with what canuckle said. I do believe the posiquiets are available for both the front and back, just not from Uniq...

I did have warped rotors, that they replaced under warranty...

but that being said, I'm getting confused by stop tech vs posiquiet, because they seem to be the same brand... by posiquiet do you mean these:

This place happens to be in Kitchener, and hopefully they have stock...

Nice find, if you're moving to waterloo you should be able to pickup and avoid shipping costs. Saves you 40 bucks, probably equivalent to how much more these cost compared to Uniq.

Are the stinger and g70 brake systems the exact same for the 3.3?

Browsing rockauto, I found powerstop z17's for the 2020 stinger 3.3 front and rear. However, rockauto's catalogue only shows they fit the stinger 2018-2020.

In contrast, the centric posi-quiet are listed as supporting both the stinger 2018-2020 and g70 2019-2020.

If the centric can fit both cars then the powerstops should too. Is this just a cataloguing issue? Or am I missing something here?

So the shop I found in Kitchener didn't have stock, and won't have until September, yikes.

Ended up getting the Posi-quiet Rears and Stoptech Fronts from UniqPerformance/Rob, crossing fingers they come in by the weekend.

yes, the stinger brembo and G70 brembo setup (except for 6MT or US 3.3T Dynamic trims which have Euro pads) are the same. makes sense that more parts are listed for stinger since it's been around another year or so and will have more people after the parts.

a quick call to the centric reps would confirm any remaining part # concerns. the trick is to ensure you get the correct brembo-vs-non brembo parts.

Hey Guys, I too had the vibration issue with my 2020 G70 3.3. After much forum reading, I decided to go with the Euro spec pads. My dealer had no idea this was a solution and all they wanted to do was resurface the rotors. This all occurred with 6k miles on the car. After dealer interaction, I called the Genesis corporate number. The local rep couldn’t help me, but did escalate this to a national representative. After several phone calls and explanations on my part, they agreed to pay for new Euro pads and labor costs. The new pads stop better and since installation, I haven’t had a vibration issue. The one downfall is horrible brake dust.

^ ding ding ding! we have a winner, and it is great to hear the problem is resolved as many of us had anticipated.

and yes, the dust is the only real issue. but those of us with Sport rims don't really notice it...

Here are pictures of the front and rear "Euro" semi-metallic Brembo brake pads you can get from Genesis. I didn't take pictures of the stock pads, but the Euro pads definitely have a rougher feel to them, being that they are semi-metallic. They are a nice upgrade, with the only downfall being they do dust significantly more, FYI.

Front part # 58101-J5A55, rear part # 58302-J5A55

I paid $440 shipped for front and rear pads, from Conicelli Hyundai out of Conshohocken PA. I live in Ohio for reference.
Just almost a year later front pads cost a lot more now.
