  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,
Anybody noticed the clear erosion tape applied to some body panels especially in corners area? I did noticed after almost a year with the Car and wondering if this is something to must stay there as part of the paint care or something Dealer missed before delivered to me.

I am not familiar with that name. I have some kind of protective film on rocker panels and at lowest rear of front wheel openings. I assume is protection for likely road debris marks and I have not investigated further. After five months it is as good as new on my car. I washed it yesterday and it was same as at delivery.

It is there or a reason. Many cars now have this as paint protection. Remove at your peril.

Well, i just used a Aviation terminology i guess since it is exactly the same kind of tape Aircrafts makers put on critical areas of high aerodynamic impact (only on fibreglass panels or similar materials but no in metal skin) like wings leading edges , Engines entries where erosion due to high temperature created by friction at his speed. In this case just wondering if only me or is the same on other folks G's.

The clear “tape“ at the corners behind the wheel wells can be removed but it is there to protect the area from rock chips.
most manufacturers use it now a days, last dozen cars I’ve owned have had them.

Interesting, thanks folks for the input on this. Well appreciated.
