Hold on... I almost hit a deer, raccoon and fox two nights ago. Let me go grab one of those.
 
I checked my whole card, and I only had this night video (thanks to COVID, there’s nowhere to go, especially at night.) Of course it was raining, and I live in the boonies so the lighting is non-existent.
I put two of the videos together - first part is the fox, and the second near a fire station.

You may have to change the quality of the video in the YouTube app.

Post #2 in this thread has some great photo's and information. Very Helpful, BUT I can not agree with wrapping bare wire around a fuse as a permanent installation. Yes I know your mom's uncles brothers sisters husband did it since the '50's but it is a BAD idea. So easy for a wire to vibrate loose and short out, We are talking power here which can result in FIRE. Use a fuse tap (2 for $8.00 @ Amazon and they include extra fuses). Please do not wrap bare wires around fuses in 2020.

Absolutely agree! The OP and anyone else using the wrap around method is inviting disaster with expensive electronic gear, not to mention the fire hazard.

If you are going to use the wrap around method make darn sure you are wrapped on the LOAD side of the fuse! I just checked and the load side is on the right of the fuse for these two particular fuses as you are facing the fuse block. If you tap into the left side(supply) there will be no fuse protection.
 
Check out this video at the 5 minute mark. He shows a wire wrap, an alternative to it and a plug in fuse adapter that I think is the best way to go. He also mentions that when using the fuse adapter to make sure you pay attention to the supply and load sides, though I think he uses a different terminology. Another video I watched they didn't mention it and that could mean the power is on the wrong side of the fuse. Great article and great comments. I ordered a cheaper dash cam that will be here next week.
 
Yes, I just did. If you place it near the middle (where the glass curvature is the most) and also avoid the defrost lines, it works great. I have the rear cam of the Viofo129.

I just successfully completed a dashcam install of the Viofo129 (both front and rear cameras) in my 2018 G80 3.3T. Zero wires visible all the way around except the tops of the dashcam. I hard-wired it directly into the fuse-box using wire-taps and connectors that came with the install package (also can be purchased from Amazon). If anyone needs any info, let me feel free to ask.

FWIW, I would avoid putting anything in front of the rear view mirror. Most auto-dimming mirrors have two light sensors - one facing forward and one facing rearward. The difference between the two is what triggers the mirror dimming.

I learned this the hard way, when I stuck a tollroad sticker (with RFID chip) right under the center cluster on the windshield. For quite a while, I could figure out why the auto-dimming rear view mirror wouldn't work consistently. Finally dawned on me what I did, and I prompted removed/relocated the sticker. Problem gone.

Not saying installing a dash cam will definitely cause a problem, but you might want to keep that in mind. At least test the auto dimming function to make sure it works correctly.
 



Ended up going with the 2 channel VIOFO A139 Pro in my vehicle. Didn’t care for a screen and this fit the bill. I placed it to the right of the rear view mirror and run the rear cam cables along the passenger side trim. The lens is a wide enough angle that I can see both sides of the car easily out the front. Sample footage below (cropped ever so slightly to remove the GPS coords.)

Does anyone have a photo of their G70 fuse box with the fuse taps installed? I'm struggling to confirm the correct orientation of the fuse tap... looking straight at the fuse box, should the pigtail for the new device to to the right or to the left? thanks!
 
One more thing I noticed. It looks like the side airbag continues into the headliner, so tucking the cord through the top edge of the A-pillar means it'll be lying across the airbag. Probably not ideal. I was able to run the cord below the airbag (it ends about halfway down the a-pillar) and continue through the weather stripping. With a trim-puller, you can access most of the a-pillar without taking the entire thing off (which I wasn't able to figure out, anyways)
@petraman, this is a really good and important point. It would be great if the OP could add this to his otherwise excellent instructions to ensure that people don't make this mistake - you should definitely not have the wire crossing the airbag. I ended up tucking mine between the pillar and the windshield, and there is a short visible section between the windshield and the weatherstrip, along the bottom of the A-pillar. I may reroute as you suggest later.
