G70 differences 2019 vs 2020

So my wife drove a G70 and loved the car. She is coming out of a Lexus IS250 and it just seems like Lexus lost a step recently.

I am trying to tell the difference between the 2019 & 2020 models as the design and dynamic builds seem to throw a loop in the comparison.
We are leaning to the 3.3T AWD Sport as it seems that it is the only way to get the electronically controlled suspension. Is the adjustable suspension a worthwhile feature? I do not love the idea of 19" tires since they are more $ to replace and have problems with potholes.
 
I have the regular suspension and it's fantastic. Handling is great and it's very comfortable. I used to autocross, so I know what a good suspension feels like. I have the 18" all season tires and there is plenty of grip unless you want to track the car. The 2020 has a power closing trunk. No other changes.
 
Agree on the 19" wheels.
I don't have a Sport model, so I don't have the electronically controlled dampers, but if you plan on potentially keeping the car a long time (like >4-5 years), another thing to consider is the replacement cost of the those dampers.
The 335xi I traded in had the adjustable M sport dampers, and after 60k miles they were shot and the replacement cost for just the four dampers was $2000.
I don't know how much the Genesis dampers cost, but I imagine they're considerably more expensive than the fixed, non-electronic versions.

Agreed. My Design edition (like a number of other models) has the "sport suspension", but is not adjustable. I'm very happy with it. It's firm and well controlled without being harsh and beating you up on less than perfect roads like some other brands do.
 
How does the design or dynamic compare to the other trim levels?
I am having a hard time spotting the differences on the window sticker. There seem to be plenty of 2019's around and 2019 models have a $1000 incentive plus 0% financing. I am thinking the 2019 makes a lot of sense.

Danygenesis, thank you for posting this information. I could not find it in my looking.
 
They do seem to make it hard to find. Since they are "limited editions", those two models are only shown and described in a separate brochure that my dealer only had a few of.

I am not familiar with the dampers and replacement. Does the statement above imply that the Electronic Suspension used a different more expensive damper than normal, or that it is the same damper but likely to need more frequent replacement? We usually keep cars close to 10 years so affordable and easy maintenance is a concern.
 
Since I don't own one, I can't check it and say absolutely for certain. But if it's like other cars I'm familiar with which have electronically adjustable suspension, then yes, it would be the dampers whose valving is electronically controlled, and therefore different and more complex than the standard fixed dampers.

I have no reason to believe that the electronically controlled dampers would need more frequent replacement, but I'm pretty sure they will cost substantially more.
Maybe someone here who has access to that information can chime in with some pricing info.
 
Keep in mind that the standard suspension is softer than the electronically adjustable suspension even in comfort mode.

As for the 2019 vs 2020. The difference is in trims/packages and you should look for the trim that has the look and equipment that you want. So I don't see any advantage in getting a 2020 unless you want something very specific that's only offered in the 2020.

I'm pretty sure that the sway bar diameters on my Design edition are also the same size as those on the Sport model.

From what I’ve read from reviews, the standard suspension is between comfort and sport on the ECS version. In fact I’ve seen on the stinger forum that on their cars at least, the sways are larger on the standard suspension since the sport uses stiffer springs to provide the same anti roll behavior
 
"sport tuned suspension" is the standard suspension on the 3.3tt

The more recent YouTube videos have mentioned that the standard suspension on the 3.3tt is softer the the electronic suspension. I can't confirm this because I haven't driven a 3.3tt with the the electronic suspension and I suggest to OP to test drive both.

Though from my experience the standard "sport tuned suspension" is really good and doesn't feel like they compromised either comfort or sportiness.
 
I've driven both and the standard suspension is definitely softer than the ECS turned to sport, but not as soft as ECS turned to comfort. Aka its in the middle.

I think the ECS setup is definitely worth the money. Especially if you're already going for a Prestige trim car

I had to laugh, being the OP, I doubt I could tell the difference in a what is better sense. I may be able to notice they are different if I drove them consecutively, but not enough of a car person to know.
The car is for my wife and I doubt she is any more capable than I on this front. I know the next question is why bother with the sport package? Get ready to laugh, but it has the red contrast stitching in the seats and we like that interior look. Silly, but honest.

I have driven both the standard suspension car and the electronic unit, which I bought. The standard suspension car rides and drives great, but it is not a Electronic controlled suspension car. It is OLD tech, the Electronic car does EVERYTHING better. It rides better in Comfort, It handles very nice in Sport, but the thing being overlooked in this thread is that the electronic unit also co-ordinates the steering and the transmission with the suspension for a total package. NO WAY you can compare this to non-electronic car. This is like trying to compare a Escalade or Yukon Denali with a base Tahoe. They are different vehicles due to the electronic systems. I have never bought a low-end vehicle, lucky in being able to afford hi-lines and I have bought, not leased over 30 new cars. If you can only afford the base car, then buy it, but it does not ride, drive or handle like the Sport Edition in Sport mode and no amout of "Sport Tuned Suspension" on the window sticker will make it equal.
