G70 differences 2019 vs 2020

The 2020 has a power closing trunk. No other changes.

We went to the dealer today and put a deposit on a 2019 Mallorca Blue 3.3T AWD Sport. They need to confirm the trade with another dealer but there are several available.
I think we may have set a brand adoption speed record having never even sat in a Genisis prior to Saturday when we drove it and a BMW 330, and an A3.

It turns out 2020 has no changes from 2019 beyond package differences and the "Hands-Free Smart Trunk with Auto Open" is the same in 2019 as 2020.

I think I just found a 19 - 20 MY difference. All the 2019 Sport trims have summer tires, while the 2020 have All-Season. Now wondering if I need new tires for January?

I have driven both the standard suspension car and the electronic unit, which I bought. The standard suspension car rides and drives great, but it is not a Electronic controlled suspension car. It is OLD tech, the Electronic car does EVERYTHING better. It rides better in Comfort, It handles very nice in Sport, but the thing being overlooked in this thread is that the electronic unit also co-ordinates the steering and the transmission with the suspension for a total package. NO WAY you can compare this to non-electronic car. This is like trying to compare a Escalade or Yukon Denali with a base Tahoe. They are different vehicles due to the electronic systems. I have never bought a low-end vehicle, lucky in being able to afford hi-lines and I have bought, not leased over 30 new cars. If you can only afford the base car, then buy it, but it does not ride, drive or handle like the Sport Edition in Sport mode and no amout of "Sport Tuned Suspension" on the window sticker will make it equal.

Are you under the impression that the non ecs G70 doesn’t change transmission and steering mappings? It does. The suspension is the only difference

I am a car guy and love to know trim levels and features, but to make it easy for you:

Do you like the forest green or red colors? get the “special editions”.

Do you like the black wheels? Get a sport trim.
Do you like the power trunk? Get a 2020.
It’s a great car. Get the color/wheel combo you like and be happy. The rest is minimal for 95% of your driving.

Interesting, I am looking at window stickers for a 2019 & 2020 sport edition and both have the identical line, "Hands-Free Smart Trunk with Auto Open", so I will ask next time I am at the dealer.

I don't know if the late 2019 models have it but I doubt. The "Power Trunk" which is different than the "Smart Trunk" is an option for the 2020 model, not the 2019.

The base 2020 doesn’t have the auto close. So look at 2020 window sticker that's higher than Elite...so Prestige/Sport.

That seems like an odd statement, based on a discussion of ECS.

So it must have been tough for you going to a Hyundai dealer. Why not Porsche?

@CVODON, You're definitely right about the suspension, but wrong about the steering/transmission. All the "lower trim" models adjust the steering/transmission feel dependent on mode as well, but I'm not certain if they come with the "custom" drive mode like the Sport does

dude thats what I thought too! glad Im not alone

custom drive modes are available on non sport models, just suspension modes are not available as a choice

You also get a heated steering wheel with both AWD and RWD for 2020. For 2019, only AWD got the heated steering wheel.

@CVODON, You're definitely right about the suspension, but wrong about the steering/transmission. All the "lower trim" models adjust the steering/transmission feel dependent on mode as well, but I'm not certain if they come with the "custom" drive mode like the Sport does

My 3.3T Prestige comes with Custom Mode but it only changes Steering and Tranny , no suspension of course.

Also, just to clarify all the cars have auto open trunks, Smart Open or whatever it's called. Stand by the car, with it on, 5 beeps later the trunk is open.

Power trunk closes it via a linear actuator. That's new in 2020.

That experience is helpful to know. I've considered the lower end to save some $$ but knowing this definitely plays a factor.

So i test drove a 2019 3.3 AWD with Elite and Prestige packages. Then i looked at the window sticker of a 2020 3.3 AWD and it listed a "Comfort and Convenience Package". Is the Comfort and Convenience package essentially what used to be called the "Advanced" trim on the 2019? I didn't see ventilated seats on the Comfort and Convenience package.
