  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 First service. Pleased…mostly

I bet you would not be my customer. If I could accommodate you I would but I'd not make someone else wait if I had a full schedule. Commitment matters.
^ agreed. isn't that how appointment based services work? seems pretty straighforward to me.

the local toyota dealership has a good system: anything other than an oil change service is a booked appointment. but a simple oil change service need not be booked and is on a first come 'express' basis. they try to keep turnaround to <1hr, but obviously if they get swamped with unbooked express services the wait time will increase - and be not-so-express. they essentially reserve some of their bays for oil changes only and leave the rest of their technicians to the higher-effort services.

with my G70, i do a 6 month OCI on my own dime in between 'free' Genesis annual services - force of habit. for this i either DIY or take my own oil/filter to a local quick change place that i've used for years and trust. they give me full access to the pit to inspect the undercarriage and their work, and only charge $25 for labour. i've never waited more than ~10 minutes. there's no reason i'd use a dealership for a simple oil change service, except for my wife's Highlander because i can't do it cheaper any other way.

Some dealers want to keep customers from going to the quick lube places and if they have a bay open, great. But surely you don't pull up and get a water pump on the spot.

Better double check that your tires were NOT rotated because they are different sizes.
Manual still says tires should be rotated side to side on the same axle.

I’m amazed how dealers want an appointment, and can’t take you in for weeks! CRAZY. (My Buick dealer is like that). No wonder so many people use “Quicky Lube” places. They take you right away.
Dealer appointments don’t mean a thing. You get there on time (or earlier) and you still have to wait before they ever get your car in. I never make appointments. With all my Sonatas, Kia’s, Toyotas and all my previous cars. I just get up early and am waiting at dealer when Service opens. I’ve NEVER been refused service yet. If and when a dealer refuses me service, no appointment, I’ll switch to another nearby dealer. Plenty in the area.
If worse comes to worse, I’ll pick up an OEM Oil Filter from dealer parts, and take car to “Quicky Lube”. (I normally carry an OEM Oil Filter and OEM Air Filter with me as I’m often in an area with no dealers of my car brand. IE, no Genesis or Kia dealers at my third Roswell NM location, although they do have a Hyundai dealer).

Years ago, nobody ever heard of appointments for service. I’m old, from the old school.
Years ago no had ever heard of cell phones, what is your point?

Wait, so oil changes are complimentary?? I have 4500 on my 22 and I've looked every where on the Genesis website and i was so damn confused by what's covered and what's not. Every time I go to the warranty section all I see is some additional warranty perks that I can pay for to cover other things. The whole thing is so confusing.

I have set up an appointment for this Thursday, all I see is a "first maintenance service" option, and it seems that it's free, does that include the oil change? I had to manually add an oil change service for my appointment which was like $95. I'm guessing I will call them and sort this out.

EDIT: also, I've seen different numbers between the manual, the warranty and the Genesis website, some say first oil change at 7500 miles and some say other number, I find that so confusing.

Also "dazed and confused" on this very timely topic. Too much confusing data, no reliable information.

I just called them, the person who answered said she doesn't know anything about warranty and she would have someone call me back. For real I find the Genesis website so misleading in showing/not showing what the warranty covers. It should be straight forward.

I'd go by what the manual that came with the car says. That should be all inclusive.

Thank you, I just got a call back, it seems like I get free oil changes every 3000 miles for the first 3 years, I could've sworn this is the first time I hear about this lol

Took my Buick in today. Oil and Filter service. Rotate tires.
No appointment.
No problem.

If your dealer won’t accommodate you, change dealers.

YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER.
IT’S YOUR MONEY!
