  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Maybe this topic has been beat to death before, but I can't seem to shake how much the front of the G70 looks like the Sonata Sport. Someone at my office parking lot just got one, and now that I see it every day it really bothers me. Hopefully I can overcome this gross feeling once I see it in person. Just sucks that a potential $50k sport sedan looks wayyy too similar to their bargain family sedan.

And yes, I know many car manufacturers have similar design themes, but come on. If Genesis really wants to break away from Hyundai, this isn't the best design strategy. At least the Genesis/G80 and Equus/G90 looked nothing like anything else from the Hyundai lineup.

You have a valid point. The photos together really brings it out. The other side though, Sonata drivers are proud that their car look like the high priced one.

hmm, I don't see it.

manufacturers; all of them, have a common look across all models. The newer Toyota Camry and Avalon have distinct features from Lexus and if you sit them side by side yeah you will see similarities, but they are unique in their own way, such is the way with cookie cutter cars. Which most if not all everyday vehicles are.

Look at the G80 and the Sonata, the rear ends, especially the tail lights are very similar, but also unique in their own way.

To be honest the G70 Fascia has more in common with the look of the 2018 Veloster than the Sonata.

But this is common with all manufacturers, it makes retooling easier, keeps parts consistent across models thereby lowering costs, and maintains a "look" that is associated with the brand.. Car manufacturers go to great lengths to make sure their models all exhibit the look of the brand so they can easily be identified by the public and not mistaken for another brand.

Headlight, taillight, front/rear fascia's and Grille's will always be similar across the models from any make. Look at any BMW, Audi, Ford, chevy, all of the models look essentially the same from the front and rear..

To be honest, I kind of like the Hyundai grilles more than the Genesis. But I'm fine with the Genesis rendition and much prefer the G70 overall to any Hyundai.

Would look a lot cleaner if the "H" can be removed.
