  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 sales

Ok something is wrong with that 10k hyundai tiburon sales number or I missed this relaunch!

Puttering along at about 1,000 per month. Through October, 2019

2019 US Vehicle Sales Figures By Model
2019 US Passenger Car Sales Figures By Model

This MAY relate to the disappointing JD Power rating for dealer satisfaction.

I think it's time for dealers to be willing to knock more than just $2k off MSRP. You have cars like the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia where they will knock like $8k (before rebates) off on first numbers.

Not saying the G70 should be discounted $8k right off the bat.... but maybe making 36 month / 12k mile leases on 3.3T closer to $525 a month with like $1,000 down would boost sales a bit.

It may sound counter intuitive but in my opinion the more they discount the less sales they will have. What is hurting sales is the lack of brand recognition and awareness along with a poor dealer experience in general.

They need to be able to pull a significant number of customers away from BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc. and the lower the price of the vehicle the less they will be able to do that. Many, perhaps most, people who buy a luxury vehicle are not doing so for performance reasons. If they were, the G70 should be leading the market segment because it is arguably the best in class by a good margin. They do so for status, perceived quality, keeping up with the Jones, etc. Currently Genesis is at the bottom end of the scale in those categories. They are still seen as a more expensive Hyundai and not the luxury vehicles they are. As the brand matures hopefully that changes and sales growth will go along with it.

Besides increasing their product line and introducing the redesigns, their number one priority needs to be addressing the overall poor dealer situation. Hopefully through attrition we will see the number of dealers drop in the next few years. That combined with some help from Genesis, both incentives for dealers to have separate facilities as well as better marketing, should hopefully bring the majority of dealers up to a level expected by the customers they are trying to attract. Once that happens they should be able to draw customers away from the other luxury brands as well as bring new people into the market segment from the non-luxury brands.

They also need to get the SUV's launched, which will help with brand recognition since so many US buyers love SUV's. I've only seen one other G70 since I bought my car in April.

I decided to stay with Infiniti. I was not able to get much of a discount in Cali for a G70 3.3t Sport. I really wanted the car but wasn't willing to pay close to MSRP. I will give it a hard look again in three years as it's a beautiful car.

I feel the same - owned two Hyundais and loved them but wasn't willing to plop down nearly $50K on a slightly fancier one. I stuck with old reliable Lexus as they released an FSport version of the ES sedan for 2019. It's no race car but buttery smooth and reliability is pretty much certain.

I agree that the dealer situation is one of the biggest hurdles with sales. But I also think Genesis isn't in as bad of a spot as it currently seems. The G80 had solid sales before the G70 was released and inventory dwindled. I think price-wise they are in a good spot, and being a good value earned the G80 a good amount of sales.

A little more advertising would help but maybe they don't want to spend the money until they have good dealer support.

Just leased a 2019 G70 3.3.3T AWD Advanced. $7,000.00 discount. Picked it up at 6:00pm so haven’t had a whole lot of time with it yet. Still reading the manual😂

Manuals on new cars are the single most fun thing to read, it enhances the ownership experience.

Cars dont sell well as it is. The dealers suck though. Nobody who buys a luxury brand wants to go to a non lux brand for crappy service. Motor trend long term test has already acknowledged that service and dealer experience will be too of their list for analysis. Going to be ugly.

I'm no snob, but the service I've received so far has been horrible including a dealership scraping my wheels and then blaming me for the damage refusing to fix it.

I'll never buy another genesis if they dont have stand alone dealerships
