  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

I am a 2019 Genesis G70 Advanced 2.0T owner.
My original local Genesis dealership has been absorbed into another Genesis dealership further away.
I used to get my oil changes done whenever my maintenance service was due, and it hasn't cost more than $102 (attached).
The new dealership is charging a different price ($249.99) even though it is in the same state and nearby the previous dealership.
On top of the oil change, my car is due for a Brake Fluid replacement ($239.95) and Differential Flush ($299.95).
From your experiences, do the prices below (repair estimate) seem right?
Also, do you have these types of changes and replacements done at your local Genesis dealership or elsewhere?

I'd have replied sooner but I could not stop laughing at the price for an oil change.
What does it include? Is this service in the evening while they give you and your wife a steak dinner and bottle of wine? Could be a nice night out.

Just peeked at a couple of my bills. Oil change $58, tire rotation $24.95. Local iffy lube place would be $116 for the oil change, no tire rotation.

Can't speak for the other prices but my guess, the service manager gets a nice bonus on those too. I'd talk to a local indy shop.

For me, tire rotation let's me skip a trip to the gym. Tricep pumps, dead lifts, bicep curls, shoulder extensions, squats, etc... it's a good work out. :)

Put it in Drive. Let foot off break. Tires rotate.

They can charge whatever they want. Why not change it yourself? That's what I do, and it cost me less than $40, and with an OEM filter and Mobil1 0/30 synthetic oil. And most importantly, I know it was done well. Plus no inconvenience. My labor time is probably 1/2-hr. I'd spend at least 2 if I took it to the dealer, plus the wait time. The differential should be super easy. And brake fluid is very easy as well, but you need to buy a fluid extractor. Good luck.

Having the ability to take the car in whenever it needs something (other than scheduled maintenance) and get an equivalent loaner is a key part of the luxury car experience. Paying more for everything is also part of the luxury car experience. If I am going to have the second part, I want and expect the first part (which I always had for my prior BMWs).

My dealership has moved to the so called hybrid model: a separate sales/showroom in an upscale mall with the service remaining at the Hyundai dealership with a separate service line (under construction). I stopped in at the showroom yesterday and was talking with the SA. I mentioned that the first time my car needed repair, and I was not offered the opportunity to bring it in and get a loaner, I would be down the street trading in my car. But, fortunately, so far Genesis of Scottsdale has been solid on service.

During the pandemic, when cars were in short supply, my BMW dealership ran low on loaners (BMW of North Scottsdale). It set up a deal with Hertz whereby Hertz supplied some vehicles which the dealership could use as loaners but to me, as a customer, I had the same experience: drop off the car, walk over to the loaner desk, do the normal paperwork and drive away in a loaner which could have been a BMW owned by the dealership or a car owned by Hertz (I actually got a Caddy one time). How a dealership procures vehicles to use as loaners is not my concern; having an adequate supply is. But...when one has a repair outside of warranty, for a BMW or equivalent luxury car, one does pay through the nose.

My dealer claims to have only ONE loaner, which is practically never available. You only get offered a ride home (and I don't think they bring you back). And they're not doing the home pickup thing anymore, which never involved a loaner, but an employee 'ubering' to your house, and driving away on your car, leaving you carless. But since I never set foot on a dealer after delivery unless I absolutely have to, that's not as important to me. What pains me a little is having paid for 3 years of maintenance I didn't want, but it is what it is. My car is MUCH better off doing it myself... and me too:).

I assume it is Genesis of El Paso. I tried to check their web page to see how they present themselves and I got a message on Nord VPN that the website is using uncertified technology and is unsafe and going there could expose me to possible attacks. Obviously, I did not go there.

I feel for you but it does not look promising. Is there any city within reasonable reach for you that might have a different Genesis dealer?

Negative. So hope I never need servicing. Ha ha. Will keep the car for now, but will definitely sell it before B2B warranty expires in 3+ years. Having said that, nothing is reliable anymore, so not sure what I'll get next. I was going to trade it for a C8 or LC500, but those have issues too, and I'd lose my a$$ trading the G, and I like it for what it is (it's no driver's car, but it has a lot of very nice features for the money, and it's RWD), so will hold on to it for now.
