  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Sightings?

Its nice having a rare car that is a monsta
True that. Many have never heard of Genesis yet. My neighbors where like, "that's a great looking car, what is it"? I said "it's a Genesis", and they were like "What's that"? I then had to go through the whole "Genesis is Hyundai's luxury brand, like Lexus is to Toyota, etc.

This is how I feel opening my garage every morning...despite none of my neighbors being awake...until I give them a nice cold start :sorry:

Well I finally saw my first G70 "in the wild" today. I was in a conference room on the 2nd floor of my office, listening to a dull AF video conference meeting. Sitting at the end of the row by the window, with the main parking lot entrance just behind and to the right of my field of vision. Cars coming and going all day.

But for some reason, at a certain moment, I turned my head and looked out the window just behind my shoulder . . . at the EXACT moment this 2.0T G70 was pulling into a guest parking spot. I stared at it the rest of the meeting.

Meeting over. Run downstairs. Out in the cold drizzle. Do a quick walk around and snap a few pics. Here's the kicker - in the gray, perpetually overcast Chicago spring - I couldn't tell for sure if this was the Santiago Silver or the Siberian Ice! I think it was SI but I could be wrong.

Either way, I was so antsy for the meeting to end just so I could run down and check it out "in the wild". Being the 2.0T, I noticed the lack of dual exhaust and the 18" rims. Personally, I prefer the look of the 3.3T Sport 19" 5-spoke rims and the dual exhaust. But no doubt, the G70 in any trim is quickly noticeable. Clean lines, classic sport sedan proportions: a winsome car from all angles.

Counting the days....

There's a Himalayan Grey and a Victoria Black that I know off in my city. Both 4 cylinders. One is a Prestige and not sure about the other as I saw it with winter wheels a few months ago!

Haven’t seen a single one on road In Portland Oregon. Only one dealer ! 3 million people. And it’s in Vancouver Washington.

I've seen two wild ones in Vancouver BC. I saw the first one a day after I did a test drive and it looked so good I took it as a sign from above and got mine the next week.

Ah, you must've missed mine! Haha

I've seen plenty of G80's and even saw a G90 yesterday.

Nice. Did you get yours in Vancouver ? What kind of deal ?

Nope, they were being assholes in that they didn't even try to work with me in trying to get the color and trim I wanted. I ended up flying to Detroit and bought mine at a dealer over there, shipped it back to my home in Oregon.

I've called them multiple times since then for various other, service related things, and they have been virtually useless, and jerks, about it each time.

Honestly, I would rather drive all the way down to Bend to get my car serviced rather than deal with Vancouver anymore. Bend has always been extremely helpful and professional each time I've called (which has been a lot).

Edit: as far as the deal is concerned, Detroit accepted my circle plan certificate and gave me $4k off. No tax either, so it was $48k even all said and done. 3.3 AWD Sport.

Good to know. I have certificate now. Let’s see how this goes. If I buy one let’s meet !

No tax? Wat.

No tax? Wat.
In some states you pay tax separately--after the fact. I do not even know what my tax is yet; dealer submits the paperwork to the State; they send me the title; I take that and then pay tag, tax, title.

Oregon does not have sales tax. In order to register it, I had to pay a "Vehicle Privilege Tax" which is 0.5%, or about $240 for my car. Definitely turned out to be in my favor to live in this state when buying a new car!

Edit: but then again, having to deal with the DMV on getting a brand new, out of state car, was such a huge pain in the ass I began to wonder if it all was worth it....but then I drive it and all those bad memories quickly fade away. ☺

Not having the $2900 tax bell most of us have to pay would ease the pain too.
