  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 Sightings?

In Chicago I've seen a total of 3 G70s "in the wild" other than myself. There's a 2.0 SI that occasionally parks in the visitor spaces in front of my office complex, probably a real estate agent visiting a title company in my building. I saw a guy in a MB 3.3 AWD Sport on the freeway going home, had dealer plates. And just last week I saw a white 2.0 in traffic, driven by a woman. I pulled up next to her and she looked over and I gave her the "thumbs up, cool car". She didn't respond, nbd. But I don't think she realized I was in a G70 also. I mean, who doesn't get excited when they meet or see another G70 owner???!!!!

^ ha ha. remember, as enthusiasts on a car forum and who take note of other vehicles on the road, we are the weird ones compared to 95% of the commuting motorists. most people view a car as an appliance. they'll note what colour a car is, how many doors it has, whether or not it's an SUV/pickup/convertible, but that's it.

example: my wife has traveled to work sites with colleagues of hers, spent hours in their vehicle en route, and when i ask what kind of car they had she has no idea beyond 'pickup'/station wagon/etc. and she has a quasi-car nut hubby in me who comments on cars (and other drivers...) most times we are driving somewhere. guess i haven't made much of an impression...

I have noticed among those women I know and who are educated and aware women, well dressed, nicely turned out, accessories always match, fashionable in their home, but who drive an appliance. They are concerned about looking their best until they remove the key fob. Rare exceptions, which prove my rule. Of course my car looks better than I do.

FINALLY saw a G70 yesterday in Plainfield, IN. She, however, did not see me so we could revel in our uniqueness.

I've had my Design Edition for 2 months here in SE Michigan and have yet to see another G70. There are a few G80s around as well as a number of Kia Stingers. I've also yet to see a G90...
Enjoy,

Apparently someone in my neighborhood has one. My wife saw the lady pulling out of our hood. She was behind her a few cars, etc.

I asked my wife if it had one exhaust or double on one side. She said for sure it had 2 (3.3T) because the lady floored it to pass traffic and she said she can see smoke blasting from both sides...LOL.

Doubt they're on this board though. But I myself am yet to see one anywhere other than Toronto.

It’s kind of nice having exclusivity on our cars right now. I know there is more than just mine on the roads in the DFW Arlington area, but have not crossed paths with any yet. Feel like I’m in an exotic high-end sports car that no one else has.

On my block there was a woman with two girls, (she moved a few weeks ago), and Daddy delivered his girls after a visit and was driving a Stinger. Also on this block is a man with a G90. So we are sympatico. However I have been looking for 10 months and never seen a G70 anywhere but mine and dealers.

Tarhoosier, the first time I saw a G70 in person was in your town. Genesis of Charlotte in Matthews. It was last December and I was in town on business. At the time there was no inventory in Indianapolis and I wanted to see one so bad I took an Uber over to the dealer. The salesman I chatted up about it was pretty nice, even after telling him I’d not be a sale that day. Man was I hooked.

Sorry, not much to do about sightings but I noticed your location and it made me think of that time.

Anyway....had a second sighting yesterday on 465 NW of Indianapolis. A Mallorca Blue Sport.

Yesterday at 10:45 I saw my doppelganger (another SI) by the Tysons Galleria Mall in Northern Virginia. My first sighting near my own 'hood! He was ahead of me and turned off, so did not see me.

Always a head turner when I see one in South Jersey. I always point them out to my wife.

Just saw the first G70 that wasn't mine here in SE Michigan while I was out running errands - a Mallorca Blue Sport 3.3T! Great looking color!!
Enjoy,

I’m lucky to see one per month.

The slow start in California that discouraged me, and put me into the the 535i, has continued here in Orange County, home of Genesis HQ in Fountain Valley.

Last week I saw the same Himalayan Gray 3.3T Sport twice. At the local Chevron I asked the driver how she liked her G70. She replied she was enjoying the car and her only complaint was not enough room to put her son’s baseball gear in the trunk.

This Chevron is within sight of our local Hyundai dealer which did not remain as a continuing Genesis dealer.

Every time I see a G70 I do think about giving it another test drive. It would be great to rent one for a week and see how it goes. I’m very happy with the 535i, excerpt for the horrible gas mileage, although I don’t think the G70 would give me much better.

My G70 3.3T gets about 18 MPG in mostly around town driving (about the same as the C6 Corvette that it replaced), but it's a fun ride and I really like the safety tech!
Enjoy,

I'm in Dallas as well, I've only seen one G80 but no G70's on the road. That will change over time!

There must be 20+ of them on the lot at Genesis of Plano.

Genesis of Dallas has a large number of G70s in stock as well. My plates are in so will be back over there in the next day or so. I’m assuming vehicles are selling or they would not keep that much stock? Even so, not seeing another in the mid-cities area where I’m at is nice. Folks are always looking and asking me what it is?

I put a "GENESIS" license plate holder on my G80 just so people would know what brand it is. Still, they ask "Genesis?"
