I've been in touch with Genesis customer service about the "Driver Attention Warning"—or the "Time to Take a Break" alert—which many find especially frustrating on the G70 models. Based on my discussions with customer care and dealership technicians, it seems that as of the 2024-2025 model years, Genesis has removed the option to disable this feature.
Many G70 owners report similar issues. For example, on my G70, the alert appears every 15 minutes, on average. However, if I enable lane assist, the chime doesn't activate for the duration of the drive. This feature is intended to alert drivers if they may be getting drowsy, encouraging them to take a break.
With the newer 2024-2025 models, Genesis decided to make this feature permanent, without an option to turn it off. However, unlike other models, the G70 doesn’t have a driver-facing camera in the cluster or dash to detect driver fatigue directly. Instead, it relies solely on input from the front windshield and bumper cameras, which together only partially assess driver attention. This limited setup is likely why the alert appears so frequently—about every 15 minutes—on the G70.
In contrast, other Genesis models, like the G80 and the SUV line, are equipped with two driver-facing cameras, either in the cluster or dash. With these additional cameras, the "Time to Take a Break" warning is much less frequent. For instance, I drove a friend’s G80 for two days time to take a break alert did not come up not once.
In summary genises did not think this thru in the g70 platform since they did not update the cluster like what they did to other models. Here are some solutions I think that genises should do for the g70 platform
A.) Give us back the option to disable time to take a break feature
I still have an active case with genises I am still waiting on a response from one of the software engineers what i would like is that every g70 owner to Speak up on this issue please DM me your name and what model you have so I can include you in the case and together we can get a solution
