  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Engine / Trim Poll

What US Engine and Trim Are You Favoring?

  • Total voters

If I end up buying one, it'll be the G70 Sport 2.0T 6MT. This will be the replacement for my current Mazda 3 daily, with my other 2.0T, a Mk5 GTI, being the racecar in the foreseeable future haha.

Anyone know if there is a way to view the results without voting? I am curious what the split between 4 and 6 cylinder will be. And I don't want to vote as I will not be buying a car in the US...
Don't know if you can. Right now it's 12 votes for 4 cylinder and 30 votes for 6 cylinder.

Here ya go. Aaaaand everyone now knows which one I voted for. 😬

^ perhaps, but only for the US market. CAD 6MT gets much of the 3.3T Sport goodies, and actually has more performance bits that the 3.3T, but lacks a few of the luxury items like vented seats. we get all of the performance goodies and then some, and most of the luxury items. the more i read the more obvious it is that Genesis got it right for the CAD market - well balanced and clearly a great value. i suppose the market research said US buyers really wanted those vented seats but very few of the nice-to-have's. seems odd to me but i'm no business major.

a few years ago when more 6MT sport sedans were available, the 6MT trim was often either the top-trim or very near it. they usually came loaded except for AWD in some cases and the slushbox (obviously). clearly Genesis thinks the 6MT buyer has now shifted to a more enthusiast-focused buyer than every before.
Seems odd to me too. Nobody in the luxury segment has packaged a MT this way. It’s one of the many... many.. missteps Genesis has made with the US spec G70. Unfortunate.

I think I fixed it. Let me know.

Thanks. I think I fixed it so votes are visible.

I voted for 3.3T Prestige because I have seen the Nappa leather w/o the contrast stiching and they are the nicest seats I have ever seen on any car. Soft, but not “squishy” soft. I did not want to get out of them. 😊

I need to see a 3.3T Sport to see if I like the dark chrome, 5 spokes and especially the contrast stiching (which will either look super nice or be distracting. Waiting...

As of now, 73.1% of votes are for the 3.3 liter.

Thanks guys for showing the results and then making the change to the poll. (y)

I am not really surprised to see such a high percentage of people planning on buying the 3.3T as the type of people that end up on sites like this are more often enthusiasts that care more than the average person about power. But I am curious what the actual ratio is between the 4 and 6 cylinder.

I agree with what you say. The demographics will probably be different too. The G80 and G90 mostly appeal to the older buyer that wants a luxury car. The price of the G70 though, will attract some younger buyers that like the goodies but also want better than average performance. Average age of Corvette owners is 60+ though.

Agreed. I'm 30 and still love manual cars. That really limits my choices (that I can afford and reasonably daily drive in Chicago winters). And yeah, Corvette owners tend to be older. Although ironically, two of my friends have ZO6's, a 14k 2001 C5 ZO6 and a 2010 C6 ZO6.

Fun fact: in Canada the top-spec 3.3T Sport accounts for over 50% of total sales to date.

It’s all in the packaging. If you want the 3.3T in Canada you only have two choices, the Dynamic and the Sport and only the sport gets the LSD and the price difference between the two is only $5k. The packaging I thought was out of whack and they are going to have a hard time moving certain trim levels in both engines.
